    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

My sons team just won the u/14 div 2 grand final with 7 overs to spare! They beat the undefeated all season comp leaders and will be up for promotion to div 1 next season. Jimmys coach surprised everyone by opening the bowling with legspin. It didn't quite work though and 3 overs for 12 runs...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Last game of the season tomorrow for my sons team and a huge game in store. Championship game and chance for promotion to the 1st div Comp. Big crowd, rep selectors, top umpires, best grounds, it should be good. I know my young bloke has the best bowling figures for a spin bowler in the comp...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Good Question Saradhy. I think of it as bracing the non bowling arm and using the left thigh to help? Someone who can explain the biomechanics (come in doctortran) would be good, but I know what you mean, it is in all the classic legspin actions.

    Googly Syndrome

Yeah you are trying to bowl backspinner and it is a bit like rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time, or whatever that thing is that is hard to do. But it is a good way to break a googly syndrome. It takes a bit of practise but once you get it it is a very useful ball, the...

Video Of My Leg Spinners! Comments & Feedback Would Be Appreciated!

Plenty of energy in that and a nice pace too. I would like to see it a bit more roundarm but if you could bowl close to that first ball a few times an over and that second ball, that looks like a shorter faster straighter one, every so often you would be armed and dangerous and ready to roll.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Great start. Those early season wickets are critical if you want to impress. Strike rate is sensational.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

No he didn't get wickets but he put the brakes on the scoring for his 4 overs. To tell the truth he was bit too good for them to get bat to ball mostly. Could have had a couple of wickets with some more luck but they won the semi final which is the main thing. Coach bowled jimmy with a strong...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Big semi final today for my sons team. He's bowling in good form so with a bit of luck something might happen today. 7/97 off 38 overs is his tally so far.

    Clarrie Grimmett

Warnes rev count would have to be very high. Going on the channel 9 one they used this season it would have to be at least 50's. Offspinners Ashwin and lyon were late 30,s and part timer legspinner dave warner was early 40,s. Warne did get more revs than Grimmett. That is the opinion of, for...

    Clarrie Grimmett

Yeah Grimmett was one of the best. The first player to take 200 hundred test wickets and still the fastest to take 200 hundred test wickets. Warne is the best bowler i have ever seen but i believe Grimmett was probably better. Grimmett wrote 3 books on bowling and cricket in general. He...

    Left Arm Wrist Spin Problems

Target practise is the best way to improve accuracy I reckon. Relatively big ones to start with. Not just esier to hit but to encourage you to try and spin it hard as well. To help stop falling away like that you can do stand start drills and running in to bowl and trying to balance on your...

Practising against a wall. Without bowling, standing fairly close, and try and get a pure sidespin release. You will notice things like the position of the back of your hand or thumb and where they need to be to get the seam revolving at sidespin.

Lots of topspin. Backspin was a rare variation. Grimmett always stresses the importance of topspin. That was how to gain pace off the wicket he reckoned. He could bowl big legbreaks as well using pure sidespin and usually avoided tilting back to any backspin because he feared it slowed the...

Even lower, compared to most (all) bowlers your likely to see in first class cricket these days.
