Left-arm Chinaman *help*. Please! Its A Request!

You might have to work on getting your palm more or less facing the batsman as you release. At the moment you must have the back of your hand facing the batsman as you let go. You can work on it by using a wall to bowl against. Stand a few feet away from the wall and just using your arm, wrist...

Coming Back To Leg-spin: Line Problems

I hope you stick with the legspin. What's happening is only a short term problem but I dont know if i can help. Probably frustrating that you cant land your legbreaks as accurately as your trundlers. The thing I always say is there is no use pitching outside their legs if you cant spin it back...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I totally agree with that approach. Especially with a recurring long hop problem in your first over. I suppose it depends on the mindset of the bowler. I know my son goes for max revs from the outset but he has the attitude to get away with it.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

It sounds more like a mental thing stopping you from getting your range right first up. Usually it comes from trying too hard thinking too much and letting go of the ball a bit too late = long hop.

Leg Spin Bowling Follow Up .... Feed Back Please

Those views you have already posted do give a good account of his action. When i check out a spinner i like to more or less keep wicket to them, without a batsman in between, for a few sessions of 4-5 overs at least, so maybe 100 deliveries. And watch the ball, and the seam in particular...

It would be good to get a keepers view from behind the stumps and check out some of his deliveries.

Leg Spin Bowling Follow Up .... Feed Back Please

What are you working on ? decreasing the first stride or increasing the 2nd? You have to tie it in with the his non bowling arm as well if you muck around at that critical point. Can he in an exercise stop before he delivers with his weight on his right foot and retain his balance? If he...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Strewth, you'd have to be happy with that strike rate given the slow(?) pitches lately. You sound like you feel you have gone for a few too many runs but bloody hell, you still know how to get people out. Still remember watching the clip of your bowling ages ago and thinking you would be not...

Leg Spin Bowling Follow Up .... Feed Back Please

Absolutely outstanding effort from the youngster. His action is superb as far as i am concerned and i wouldn't change a thing. For the most part he is gone beyond tinkering with how he bowls and should be checked to make sure he doesn't alter what he does too much. Even from the clips you can...

Well straight up, you are the pick of all the bowlers on the vid. Dave picked up youre falling over, maybe over reaching for sure because i would like to see you lower the bowling arm . Also you should be following through stronger. Thats all I would say. But yeah, great stuff. To me anyway...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

At my sons club cricket presentation night I recieved some very positive feedback about what umpires and other coaches said last season about my sons legspin. Boiled down, he has come to district selectors attention but his fielding is way below what would be required. Batting technique good...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Sounds like square leg let you down a bit. What do you reckon about placing the best fieldsmen in the team in that spot and taking into account a LHB your two best fielders perhaps ?

Maybe you are right. Wilkins worked out his fellow kiwi Grimmetts "mystery ball" from Grimmetts books. Grimmetts biographer, an Aussie, missed it altogether.

That's just rotten luck. Captain strikes again. Hope there is no break in your finger.

So that's what Wilkins was on about. You explained it a lot better and far more concise than he did in 'the bowlers art'.

    Back-Spinning Deliveries

What about Vettori ? he did allright. And of course, the greatest of them all Clarence Victor Grimmett didn't leave NZ till he was 21.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

You almost did buy a few wickets eh? Missed stumpings and balls hit in the air, fieldsman going walkabout. You will have to tell us more about your captain as the season goes on. He sounds like he might be good for a few laughs. I might have said something to him like, you know...... "I dont...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

That sounds like something Arthur Mailey would have penned. Love your work Spiderlounge. I always get a laugh from your pencilcricket.blogspot.com Bit unlucky really. I mean going on what you wrote you could have got 6/50 off your half dozen overs if things had gone completely your way on the...
