I totally agree with that approach. Especially with a recurring long hop problem in your first over. I suppose it depends on the mindset of the bowler. I know my son goes for max revs from the outset but he has the attitude to get away with it.

It sounds more like a mental thing stopping you from getting your range right first up. Usually it comes from trying too hard thinking too much and letting go of the ball a bit too late = long hop.

Those views you have already posted do give a good account of his action. When i check out a spinner i like to more or less keep wicket to them, without a batsman in between, for a few sessions of 4-5 overs at least, so maybe 100 deliveries. And watch the ball, and the seam in particular...
