Here is a couple recent clips of my bowling. No deliveries videod were perfect, but they should do.
File (3) is a legspinner which I'm pretty sure curves and drops nicely, though on a yorker length haha.
File (2) is a topspinner which didn't come out with the loop I usually like to bowl them...
Yeah astroturf I feel negates one of the important aspects of the flipper - the low bounce. But it still doesn't hide the fact that it's not coming out fast enough.
Well, the slider doesn't have much backspin, whereas the flipper has full backspin. Also the flipper seems to have a higher...
I will have to post a video of my bowling again soon on here. The season is coming up (mid October), and I have solidified a couple good changes in my action over the course of the offseason. I seem to be getting some more turn, drift and dip now. Although admittedly it is hard to tell if I am...
Certainly, week to week consistency is a weird thing for spinners. Like some days I get turn on these synthetic pitch (the one I practice on most), some days I don't. The days I'm bowling the best is when I see that I'm getting turn on that pitch. Cold is definitely a factor.
Yeah I'd love to...
I really like the point and third man positions though, as my go to against leg spinners is the late cut and therefore that would take away my strength and possibly serve as a way to get me out if I try it.
for some context my main strategy against spinners is to get on the back foot whenever...
I'm a pretty defensive opening batsman but if I was faced with your field, I would have three main scoring options on my mind:
1. If you bowl short, I'm rocking back and trying to hook you over short square leg/fineleg area for four. Only if the ball is leg side.
2. Bowl full on the leg side and...
Yeah I've noticed while being side on seems to get better results it does feel a bit more unnatural, at least for me. Timing is everything when you are sideon.
Yeah preseason is just starting for me too. I'm really seeing the benefits of little tweaks in my action. I decided to try and get my front toe in delivery stride pointing more towards fine leg rather than straight down the wicket, and this seems to get me a lot more revs because of the more...
Hmm, also another tip: try and overcompensate when trying the leg break. So instead of thinking like you are going to bowl one that spins at a 45 degree angle, 50/50 topspin and sidespin, imagine you are trying to bowl one that spins at a 90 degree angle, pure sidespin. Hopefully that should get...
For the videos, I would try getting one from the angle from behind the stumps, one from behind your bowling action (umpires view basically), and maybe one from side on. That should be sufficient.
Yeah, must say there's hardly anything of substance about flippers, if it wasn't for yours and Warne's videos I'd have no clue how to bowl them.
Do the topspinning flippers come out very slow and loopy?
I actually feel the only thing that makes it harder for me is the accuracy, I'm a little less accurate to lefties which is only natural. But the thing is if I get it right I find it easier to get them out because if they miss, I hit, whereas if a righthander misses a legbreak it will most likely...
Wow Dave, well done! Clutch bowling performance - I called it, knew you'd get a five fa soon enough! It looked like you were bowling mostly flippers, right? Most of your wickets were bowled too so that's pretty good.
