Love this site. I played cricket for about thirty years. Firstly in the CYMS comp. and at the same time in the YCW comp. on Sundays, in the 60s. Played 4ths for Collingwood, and in their Dowling team. Realised early on that I had neither the talent nor application to go much further with my...
That's hardly any fault of his/hers. If you're going to take the plunge to criticise somebody for posting inaccuracies, it behoves you not to be guilty of doing the same. If you're happy to have posters criticised because of the minutiae of their posts, rather than their intent and substantive...
If you're going to nitpick about accuracy, it might serve you better to first remove the log from your own eye. Also, have capital letters been outlawed in your part of the woods? BTW, it is only in comic books that successive exclamation marks are acceptable.
Yeh, just under 2 hours play. The outfield was slow because of the density of the grass (rather than its length) and Yarraville bowled stump to stump most of the time. I thought they went defensive too early with their field settings, especially seeing they have to win the game. Roach is a very...
I appreciated your well thought effort, though I'd think Adrian McInnes would be flattered by his batting position. The biggest urgers are usually the ones who have the least to constructively contribute.
It's funny you should mention that. There is a record of such activities occuring at this same GF venue, in a game involving Bentleigh, about twenty years ago.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a great game. Won't be able to see the first Saturday, because of other cricket commitments elsewhere...
Quite so. The pressure was really on the scorers. The young lady scoring for Yarraville admitted she was in a bit of a tizz, but she and her South Caulfield counterpart did a marvellous job. A most underrated, taxing and vital aspect of the game.
Fair point, but it could be argued that his season was by then over. The clown made sure he stood immediately adjacent to the gate leading from the ground as the players came off. It could easily have turned very ugly indeed. Under the circumstances, I thought the bloke from South Caulfield...
I too was there for the last 45 minutes of the game. It was a sensational finish. The Yarraville Club lower order played magnificently against some great fielding and spirited bowling. The major problems occured outside the fence, where a Yarraville supporter, who apparently played in their...
Thanks for that comprehensive assessment NCDPP. As I now live in the country, I have little opportunity to catch up with VTCA gossip. Posts such as yours are invaluable for those of us outside the loop.
re: South Division 10/11
Good call this. 160 proved to be a reasonable total, so far. South Caulfield provides a little bit of everything. No. 1 ground is a cow paddock and No.2 is a beach. For those who don't know, in the ones, Bentleigh made 160 and dismissed Beaumaris for 127 in the...
