Gradings are going to be interesting this season. No doubt we'll hear a lot of whinging too.
With Diamond Creek going up from B, and Bundoora Park's 2nd, 3rds and 4ths probably coming into D, F & G it will create a bit of havoc with promotion and relegation.
Alternatively, we could have kicked someone out of the comp to keep numbers even.
In September, the two bottom side in Mash Shield - Thomastown United and Whittlesea - play a match with the winner to stay and the loser to go.
Now that's an idea that Toddy could get behind.
Interesting development. Goes against the idea that only first XI's are in Shield grades.
What happens the season after? Do they seek another club to even up the numbers? I imagine that Diamond Creek 2nd XI will beat quite a few of the sides in Mash.
It's a poor reflection of all those involved. They lose a Grand Final by 70 runs and everyone in the team quits. What about some determination to go one better next season?
I don't have any sympathy for the club though. Toddy is not a fan of paying ordinary local cricketers. You might get some...
You can read about it here: https://www.cricketvictoria.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Melbourne_Metropolitan_Cricket_Strategy.pdf
It was to begin in November 2018.
I don't think the DVCA is too keen to be part of it.
Toddy is not a big fan of more clubs coming in from the wrong side of Plenty Road.
Can anyone recall a club applying for entry to the DVCA and getting knocked back?
How about just keeping things as they are.
How many people really go back and watch A grade anyway? Not many if A grade is playing away, or they have families or they are heading out Saturday night.
And as for A Graders watching the lower grades, surely you jest! Especially with the...
The players that are leaving weren't that good anyway.
Lower Plenty is still keeping their best player, and with money freed-up in their $58k payment pool, he will finally get paid what he's worth. I'm predicting big things for their star all-rounder in 2019/20.
DVCA Constitution Rule 7(9) states: The DVCA has power to interpret the Rules. Its interpretation is final and binds clubs and players. If a club or player fails to abide by it the DVCA may impose such penalty on the club or player as it thinks fit.
However, the Associations Incorporation...
As per the constitution:
The constitution can only be changed by a three-quarters majority at an annual meeting. (Rule 19)
The annual meeting is to be held in the first week in August (Rule 8)
Funnily enough, as per the DVCA Admin Rules:
Clubs will be required to nominate their senior teams...
But what does healthy position mean? Are all these clubs going to fold. I doubt it.
Just a quick calculation - there 10 senior grades in NMCA, 78 teams x 11 players - that's 858 players. Not to mention women, juniors and vets.
Your're probably looking at a couple of thousand people involved...
I don't know about that.
According to the NMCA website, there are 30 senior clubs. Where are these clubs going to go?
I can tell you now, they're not coming to the DVCA!
Having a close look at the DVCA constitution, Bundoora Park is not eligible to become a member of the DVCA.
No doubt, the DVCA will just ignore their own rules if they want them in.
MEMBERSHIP (1) An incorporated club is eligible to become a member if it applies before any 30 April and its...
