I think a few LP boys are embarrassing by the way they play. They happily accept $58,000.00 and then give the club nothing. Haven't won a first XI flag in 16 years.
There'd be plenty that wouldn't want him. Cashes in against bottom side Mill Park, but when it comes to a pressure semi-final he's found out.
I've always thought that you're better off spending your cash on a couple of decent players than to put it all in one basket on a gun player...
I wouldn't knock them back. Hell, if anyone rocks up to a local cricket club and pays their subs, you'd take them.
But that's not the issue here.
The issue is - would you recruit and pay a player that is not going to play every game? I wouldn't.
But that's not what's happening.
Mash and Minney aren't walking off the street. They played the previous season.
"Money is not an issue". These two aren't playing for nothing. I doubt they're paying subs and ball money!
As Savage RN has said, Eltham would be doing the same thing as the...
I agree. Having players come and go as they please is bad for team morale.
Even if they are superstars, if they fail after they have pushed someone out of the team then it creates murmurs.
Was just winding them up.
But if you look closely at their results - they won 7 games and in 5 of those games the top scorer was Minney, Mash or Turner.
And 4 of those wins were against just 2 teams, Mill Park and Greensborough.
If they lose all three, it could be a tough season for them.
I don't want to sound overly dramatic, but its these sorts of decisions that create a sense of disillusionment among local cricketers and a perception that our game is being run by rank amateurs.
I know there have been a number of reviews conducted by Cricket Australia in recent times and I...
I feel that I may have rushed to judgement in saying that his efforts in the semi-final were needed to secure his place in the team of the year.
While undoubtedly his batting in the semi-final was the difference in his side making it through to the grand-final, I should have given much more...
But it's those sort of selfless players that deserve to get picked. Not only is he a proven match winner with both bat and ball, but is he is the consummate team man. The DVCA have quite clearly got it wrong.
Very true.
It's a pity finals aren't considered, because there's a player who not only took crucial wickets in the home and away season, but single-handedly won his side a semi-final with the bat.
Whats the point of flying through overs as fast as you can? How about taking your time and playing good cricket.
One thing that Toddy really hates is less end changes. It means you have to face a bowler with the wind for 5-10 overs. You can't hit down the ground with the wind at your back. But...
Back in his younger days, Toddy used to occasionally bowl off-spin when he wasn't sending down his nippy medium pacers. Although Toddy is primarily a world-class batsman. (I was once compared to Don Bradman. I found that a bit embarrassing, as I've never had a problem with the short ball)
