    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

OK I guess? Got a kid on the way so I've put myself bottom of the pile for selection, don't want them relying on me when next season I might be playing for a social team. This has meant I have played quite a lot of serious stuff (including a T20 game this evening against the areas best club...

    India In Australia - 2016

It was a flat wicket and Ashwin isn't actually a big turner of the ball.

They would find it more than comfortable, when your own bowlers are quicker and the bulk of your domestic bowlers match that speed I doubt any of the Aussies outside of the tail would be bothered by that plan of attack. The fact is Aussie batsmen have been troubled by high pace in the past...

West Indies In Australia - 2015/16

Still better than what we currently have, don't think having Wagner bang it in at 130kph on leg stump is going to bother Oz like it did SL. I would like NZ to finally give Milne a shot in tests, fast bowlers are perpetually dealing with pain so it's time to just live with Milne's niggles and...

West Indies In Australia - 2015/16

Don't think so, Aussie will be favourites. There seems to be some weird expectation from Warner that the pitches will all be green seamers but by the time Aussie are here it will be late summer and most grounds will be very dry (by NZ standards). The Aussie attack will be better balanced with...

West Indies In Australia - 2015/16

Really liking the Brathwaite's, so much so that this talk of kicking the Windies out of test cricket needs to stop. Lose Samuels (waste of space) and Roach (not the same after the injury). Replace those two with some up and comers and stay the course. As a leggie it would be great if Bishoo...

Can Andy Flintoff please stop talking? He must be up with Brayshaw as the most annoying commentator currently going around.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Yes, why? Because I unconsciously use the batsman as part of my targetting, you probably do the same. If you are going to the nets by yourself the only way to get around this is to bowl with purpose. Don't arse around, you're there to spin the ball hard and hit a target.

Late reply but in my opinion there was not a lot of seam movement, at least no more than Dunedin. What's happened in this game is that both sides are being done a pitch that is bouncier than your standard NZ pitch. The thing that has really pissed me off is the straight ignorant crap spouted...

See McCullum got sucked into the greenness and chose to bowl first, the Lankans complain that the pitch has been doctored etc. Was there any unusual seam movement? No. Makes me wonder if either side looked at the pitch beyond the colour of it.

Of course, Santner and Williamson :) Not too sure what all the fuss about the wicket is. They'll mow it and it'll be the same old Hamilton wicket it always is, hardly a seamers paradise. If SL really want us to go back to rolled mud wickets layered in grass we can if they ask nicely.

Man it's just good to see a winning NZ side without Mark Craig in it, he's a great guy but he was only ever a temporary fixture until we found an actual test cricketer.

Getting Rid Of The Coin Toss?

The problem is that we're not really exposed to the issue of pitch extremes as club or school cricketers. Professionals are more likely to hit this as their groundsmen can manipulate the pitch conditions to order (even though they aren't meant to). I believe it should be done for test matches...

New Zealand In Australia - 2015

Wash your mouth out! Sir Curtly Ambrose averaged 12 with the bat and scored a test 50. Courtney Walsh is the one you're after, average of 7.5 and some of the ugliest runs you'll ever see.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I agree, maybe bowling on a surface with zero spin is making you too concerned with accuracy so you don't quite finish your action? Been there myself and nearly lost my drift and dip because of winter training on surfaces like that.

New Zealand In Australia - 2015

I would just like Guptill to have a go, he does not have a great defensive technique so why not do a Warner and take the crap defensive shots out of the equation. Leave the tough stuff to the likes of Latham and Williamson.

Bizarre collection, captures nearly all the current NZ FC spin bowlers, if you're worried about your action watch this freak show!

New Zealand In Australia - 2015

I'm in two minds about that, yes he kept moving the fields around and didn't allow the bowlers to concentrate on a single plan but in his defense none of them looked like they could execute a bowling plan. Still of the opinion that a top bowling coach is a must for this young bowling attack.
