re: North A and B 10/11
I don't understand why the VTCA, just does not put the season back a week and make the first game a one day match, this gives clubs a bit of extra time to get their wickets up, as it is the same every year.
This has been raised at the match committee meetings but...
Re: North A & B
What about comps that play both, just about all clubs would do pre season on synthetic wickets. Having played turf cricket for over 20 years, and done 90% training on synthetic wickets it makes hardly any difference. They only people i see who struggled are guys who came...

Re: North A & B
The problem is the 90 minute clause, with a grand final going over 4 days, it's not alot of lost time, perhaps there needs to be a time limit eg no play by 4.00 first day, start again 2nd day with 240 overs divided by 2 and so on,

In the normal course of events you can bat for 160 overs (2 days), however because more than 90 minutes were lost it goes back to ordinary conditions, these rules are more for 2 day matches, not really designed for a grand final,it would make sense for both sides to have...
Re: North A & B
I agree with what you are saying, however the council's are not interested in doing wickets anymore, when haven't had the council do ours for over 15years. If you want to play in a turf comp, there has to be some effort put in to prepare decent tracks.
Re: North A & B
Believe me this is one of the worst decks in the assoc, our seconds called there game off early because the wicket was boarding on dangerous, I have seen there wicket keeper get hit and taken to hospital because of the erratic bounce
Re: North A & B
Started juniors again about 5 years ago, at the under 11 level, now have 3 junior sides with a couple of the kids coming through the 4ths, I think the problem was that Seddon, Yarraville was a older suburb, however over the last few years we have picked up alot of new...
