All finals in subbies, including Grand Finals are played at the higher ranked teams grounds.
There is never any problems and it is much easier for everyone involved in the lead up and on match day itself.
You clowns hijacked my topic!! If you provide competitive and even games of cricket in the lower grades, your young players will feel connected to your club and will then hopefully become 10 year plus players who move up through the grades and onto committees. Fingers crossed they have...
I think the actual mix of cricket is ok. The problem with 1 dayers only is the fixture doesn't align with the 3rds and it also makes it harder to develop the younger junior players who cannot score as fast as the bigger older blokes.
you are spot on - but the most important things is turning up each week and having the opportunity of making some runs, taking some wickets and contributing to the success of the team. There are too many weeks in the season where that is not possible as the weaker teams are playing too far out...
I totally agree with your comments regarding the travel required in PREMIER 3rds & 4ths.
Putting premier cricket aside - I just think we could make the Subbies lower elevens function better for strong clubs and weaker clubs, which would keep everyone more engaged in the competition and cricket...
This has got noting to do with the 1st eleven.
This proposal is about creating interesting and even games of cricket across the association. Each week there are 56 games of cricket played but in the lower elevens too many are one sided which isn't good for either team.
There are lots of clubs...
The 3rds & 4ths should be split into an 8 team division 1 and a 6 team division 2.
The bottom sides getting slaughtered each week does nothing for their player development.
All you want when you turn up to a game of sport as a player is an even contest and that is not happening now and hasn't...
the new rule changes are great. The shortened pitch is a huge plus and batters retiring after facing a set amount of balls ensures all kids get a bat which will keep more juniors playing.
5 overs from each end is no big deal. It hardly affects the game at all.
46 players can be selected this round and 20/20 means a large % of them will not get a bat and some of them will not get a bat or a bowl.
This is bad for cricket and for player participation and enjoyment.
The round should...
if we don't try to play next week, we should not ever fixture games for the first weekend in October ever again.
The weather has been great for the last week and the forecast is just as good this week plus it was a dry winter.
The grounds that are available should be able to play and the ones...
It depends om what you are looking for with your cricket. There are some really good grounds and some great clubs to play for.
This is a good time of the year to go to training and form your own opinion
if you bowled in blocks of 10 overs from 1 end you could save the time to squeeze in an extra 10 overs play.
Games could start at 1.00 with a finish time of around 7.00.
That said - I like our style of cricket - if all the season was 1 dayers it would not be much fun for the blokes batting below 5
