To have odd numbers or even differing numbers in the shield grades makes fixturing very difficult. Even simple things like alternating 1st and seconds home and away becomes very hard. Then throw in ground closures and council stuff ups and it becomes a logistical nightmare. The only way to do it...
I couldn't care less if they get paid or not. Why would they be considered mercenaries or hired guns with records like that! Do clubs realise there is a resource called mycricket and you can check that shit!!
Really?? You would call either of these mercenaries? Macauley made 120 runs and took 10 wickets for the year and Gardiner made 220 runs. I dont think based on that there will be congo line of clubs lining up to sign them. And surley the renumeration would reflect those stats?
I would respecfully disagree. I think most clubs are fiscally responsible these days and most would have some cash reserves to get through these days. As far as imports go that may be very difficult this year as border closures to international travellers will still be closed at beginning of...
I think you will find there would have been even more than that. NMCA is basically a dead duck so clubs saw DVCA as the lifeboat. Once DVCA settled on 30 teams all suitors would hve been politley told...F*** off.
I would think that they got in first. My understanding is that Rosebank made enquiries as early as December last year. By the time other teams approached they were told no spots were available.
If they dont get 32 teams fixturing is very difficult ( byes, bringing sides like DC 2's in etc) to align all grades to sart and finish on same Saturdays. Safer option is now that they have 30 teams just to run with that. But you could be correct... they have changed midstream before to suit...
Letter went to clubs yesterday with Rosebank endorsed ( subject to clubs vote) and strong wording that DVCA see 10 teams in each shield grade as the optimum. looks like the stable is closed. No more new teams.
Email went to clubs yesyerday. Rosebank submission has DVCA support ( clubs need to vote). Strong comment on maximum clubs capped at 30 clubs. So there is no more room at the stable... no more new teams.
I can tell you what probably happened... They said they wanted to enter via Money or Barclay and DVCA would have said its Mash or nothing and the conversation ended.
The DVCA are very specific about what they want to hear from clubs regarding entry. Success is on a small part of the requirement. Junior development and sustainability and being a good "corporate citizen" are also most important.
The DVCA would have spent north of $5,000 relaunching the website plus a fee to up keep the domain. No news on premiers the only additions of late are advertisements for club coaches. I see they are advertising for a new General Manager... good luck to that poor sod
Agree.. most teams have full teams at grounds ( even away teams) at 11.45. If someone was working allow a full sub until 1 hour after play commences. The sub is not going to be a better player than the player that is late. More likely to be a junior or higher aged player. As long as the sub is a...
Both have 100% enquired about joining DVCA. They will need to present their case to DVCA Exec and is they get past that then present to the clubs who ultimately decide. NMCA, I think is cooked. Clubs look like leaving to other associations and a few may fold. Any new clubs will need to enter via...
Thats a great point. You would expect that Visa's would not be granted for "non essential" entry. Not only implications for DVCA but all comps. With local footy looking like not getting started there will some footy players maybe wanting to blow off some steam. Maybe we can have a one day comp...
They are not looking at joining solely for 1st elevens. Their lower grades receive up to 30-40% walkovers every year and that is hard to keep players missing that much cricket. The 2 clubs ( 3 with BP) will be competitive upfront but all have below par junior set ups so ongoing success will rely...
