Dont know much about the club, but it looks like they dont have juniors, dont think they have a Blasters program - and there are plenty of other clubs nearby doing really well in that regard
Had heard they were coming up for a significant anniversary and that was pretty much the only thing...
I currently play in the CSB and used to play in the DDCA so have a pretty good idea of both comps – to say the DDCA is a much weaker comp is a bit of a stretch.
Some great players in there. (Springy Sth currently have 2 test players in their side, plus Spoljaric and a few others ex Premier...
Was my understanding regarding the MOU (or similar) that Subbies operate under- that CV had power of veto over expansion of the comp. (it predates the recent changes)
May be completely wrong - has happened before!!
But quite sure that associations arent actively able to recruit clubs to change...
I wouldn’t think so. The only thing holding it back is the fact that the subbies can’t officially approach the clubs
The clubs need to drive the change (either as an individual club if they wanted to jump to the subbies), or as a collective –as CSB did - if they want to push forward with...
Which would reflect what happened at the meeting with the VTCA when the CSB clubs jumped. The VTCA blindsided themselves, and it was hilarious. Years of not listening to the clubs, a bit more abuse from the executive towards the clubs - and 2 hours later 25 clubs have left the comp. It was that...
It’s a fair comment, it probably goes to the heart of why people would jump on an association committee (and why having a set-up like CSB provides such a brilliant alternative)
We, as members of the association tried to make the comp better suited to our ideals.
We were ignored
I’ll speak for...
And that’s why the South clubs left!!
From my club’s perspective we tried to make suggestions and changes (laws etc) which were ignored – what seemed like a more than viable alternative option came up and we jumped at it.
If there is any change to happen, in my mind the clubs need to drive it...
Standalone T20 comp has already been discussed - I just hope that we dont go to the Tuesday night model. As a secretary, geez it is hard work.
Already lower grades who can play a one day comp. Doubt there will be a move to take all lower grades to one day comps - but the best thing about CSB is...
Yeah, we can stick to our forum and talk about our low affiliation fees, in a comp where we get a full time professional administrator who doesn’t abuse us at meetings, while throughout all grades we play formats and rules that assist clubs (which came about after actually listening to what the...
Same thing happened at the south meeting a couple of years back. It started with them putting up their divisional structure - it ended with us voting to set up CSB
“Romain seems to have an instant impact wherever he plays and we hope that he will greatly assist MCC in achieving our short-term goals over the next two seasons.’’
He only ever gets a chance to have an instant impact - he's usually gone to another club within a year
I reckon 95% is well over even for a premier club - which would obviously have the highest turnover of players. On squads of 60, 95% is 57 players - so are you saying that only 3 will be there 5 years later? I was at a premier club 9 seasons ago and there’d be at least 8-10 guys still playing at...
His list of clubs does read like the cricket version of "I've been everywhere". Surprised he knows what hat to put on each Saturday afternoon.
I did a quick MyCricket search and it returned about 12 clubs (but Beaumaris wasn't one of them, and they were the one I remembered)
