    Vtca Season 2017/18 & 2018/19

Bonus points was the big thing that stood out (insert eye rolling emoji) Do you know if this was just the clubs, or did they ask the players (particularly in the lower grades)? If experience tells me one thing in this area, it’s that the answers club officials provide tend to be skewed towards...

    Vtca Season 2017/18 & 2018/19

Once we voted to leave the VTCA, I reckon it was the first update like this that arrived in my inbox - and i thought, we've made the right call. And nothing I've seen since has made me change my mind Good luck to all clubs

Cricket Victoria - South East Bayside League

Don’t know if you have yet, but I really recommend reading the relevant strategy documents. CSB have a board voted on by the clubs (rather than a traditional – or outdated - delegate system). Anybody can be nominated onto the board, and I would expect that SECA and ISEC would get some people on...

Cricket Victoria - South East Bayside League

Looking forward to dealing with one comp rather than one for seniors, one for boys and one for girls. Proud our region is leading the way

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

Why though – CSB’s charter is as manager of cricket in this region. Turf cricket, local women’s, indoor and probably girls next year. Hopefully synthetic and juniors not far away Making those grounds turf would be great – if those clubs wanted to play on turf. Once again – do you think CSB want...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

Do you seriously think that the end game for the governing body for cricket in this state is to have fewer people playing cricket for fewer clubs? CV need synthetic grounds because that’s where the kids play – so why on earth would they force all these SECA clubs to become turf clubs I know you...

    Vtca Season 2016-17

Have some VTCA branded balls for sale. We could use them as training balls but figured they’d be more use to a club actually playing in the VTCA!!! Happy to arrange a price that will be much cheaper than you can get them for. 11 red platinum 2 white platinum 3 red gold DM me for more information.

Cricket Victoria - South East Bayside League

DH – maybe one more 1D game, but I do like the double header with 2 games at the one ground And I like the pink ball – maybe because I’m really old and it is much easier to see across the ground (although this year we had a bye and I missed out). On a related matter, you should try the white...

    Junior Changes

Yes, but by which point they’ve grown so they can actually get it down the other end with a proper technique. Previously they’d just sling it down, there were ridiculously high numbers of wides/ no balls and no batter would actually get to hit it. Now they can learn a proper technique and they...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

Winki - you're no doubt right, but for me and my club (and no doubt others in the old vtca south), the actual comp we played in didn't matter. We just wanted a comp that gave us formats that enabled us to retain and gain players, that was professionally run (not necessarily by a professional...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

It certainly makes sense to bring all cricket within the region under the one umbrella. As a club secretary, I couldn't be more impressed with the CSB administration - extend that out to a synthetic, junior, women's, girls and veterans comp then it would be the ideal set up. I played in the...

Cricket Victoria - South East Bayside League

Is it weird to call themselves Bayside when both clubs are in Kingston? And not particularly bayside. Or am I overthinking it. (Most likely option!!!!)

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

I’m not saying it’s an excuse for having a points system – merely saying that the system has to do it to be worthwhile. Check out the VTCA model. Junior players were 2 points, (they might have played for 10 years), yet you could buy a player, pay them for 4 years and they would have been 1...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

I agree - just need to get a system that rewards those clubs that invest in junior development. The VTCA didnt do this, Cricket Southern Bayside is certainly a lot better. So if your junior players are rated as zeroes, then you can 'afford' to splash your money on whoever you want

    Subbies Thread

I think he has been crook for a while – I went to a few meetings where he didn’t attend (including the one where the clubs voted to leave). I don’t think the northern VTCA clubs will be far from a similar set-up to CSB Don’t know what is going on with the Leading Edge – although I saw a post...

Cricket Victoria - South East Bayside League

Just out of interest – how exactly will SECA run the comp? CV already have the structure in place (with a professional corporate structure, with a board overseeing the work of a CV paid admin manager) – why would they get rid of that?

I merely asked for reasons why people think Subbies is better – and a couple of people were good enough to respond. As I said before, I don’t really care – and have too much on my hands to get in a pi$$ing contest about who is better If you want to cherry-pick examples though then your argument...

I was quoting others. Have never commented on the relative merits of other comps (apart from the vtca), merely responding to others saying the vsdca was superior. Just wanted to know why that perception was there

    Subbies Thread

I don't have a problem with any of that, although I can tell you the CSB has the vtca covered by a long way. My issue is with the perception that the vsdca is superior when the reasons you say it is better are some of the great features of CSB. Unbelievable facilities, great standard, some...
