Too true, the ground has so much impact on the flight and pitch of the ball that it can work to one teams advantage or the other. An example of this for me was the recent England v India series in India...the ground looked terrible and some of the bowlers truly struggled, it caused some low...
I agree with Zack, to me it should be a no ball. The advantages the bowler can get are small, but there is potential there for the batsman to be put off so for this reason a no ball should be the choice.
Ive been impressed at some games but its the inconsistency for me that bothers me. If we can keep consistent then Australia are in for a rough ride...its only if we wobble a bit like ive seen at times that I will worry. Come on Australia!!!
I was just reading up on your squad myself - NZ squad will be interesting to see how the young bloods fair!!
Question is who is filling the final spot...anyone heard yet?
Thats true, I have been on other forums and found that this is the one I only really bother with. I think the reason is clear, we only wish to talk about real cricket where other forums do tend to harp on about things I dont think are worthy. some of the ones I have been on have endless topics...
You make a good point, the format does need looking at though. Maybe the answer isnt 40 overs, but something needs doing. T20 will never go away no matter how much some of us are not that keen, but a review of the ODI format to refresh it could well hope. I was thinking of 40 overs myself, but...
I bet your revelling in it mate and so you should, much deserved. Have a drink for me, you guys were clearly the better team in this match! Bring on the next one, hopefully we can show you how its done ;)
Brilliant win by NZ, much deserved...I concede that. What I will say, not taking anything away from NZ, but what was Englands bowlers doing...it just seemed they had a Plan A and no other plan so stuck with the same bowling technique and NZ took all the opportunities thrown at them (pardon the...
Lol, but it is the reason for my nick! I actually have the word Mugshot tattooed on my back! Either way, Im glad for the banter, we need more of that round here. Seems there is a small group of us regulars, I wish more would join in the fun!
I agree, sometimes its about nurturing talent and giving them time to grow before throwing them into an international. Whilst NZ have strong options, why put him in to see how he fares, it could knock his confidence and cause issues in the long run.
Notice Shane Watson has made it into the top ten ODI batting rankings according to this article - Watson top ten betting rankings - not a bad jump to get in there, hes been doing well with his batting recently...seems to tie in with dropping his bowling for a while.
The problem with bowling is that it is repetitive and puts strain on the lower back and side. Over time this builds up and as Liz says, the potential for Spondylolysis (fracture of the lower back) is actually fairly high...especially among the youngsters training regularly. Looking after your...
Its no wonder England got their best ever T20 score (sorry blackcap had to throw that one in :p ) they scored so many sixes because of the short boundaries...interesting to see Seddon Park now given how small it is...
Sorry dear boy, did I scare you! I dont usually have the moustache, that was a Movember moment and added to the scary image you see, but trust me Im a big softie :)
I actually would like the one dayers reduced to 40 overs, it would speed it up just enough to make it the perfect game for me...
Well first T20 and England set a new record of 214 for 7 to win, but you have to say NZ did well with 174 for 9. All those sixes for the short boundaries though!! Set up nicely for an interesting time in NZ.
Strong NZ squad, you can see that England see NZ as a threat and so they should. Taylor is certainly going to keep England busy...it will be interesting how the rest of the Kiwi team fare...Im really looking forward to this one, it will be a very competitive series of matches
Not all youngsters, look at the IPL Auction Results - interesting though that Matt Prior and Ravi Bopara didnt sell! The problem with the IPL is that it is so money driven that players will disappear at the drop of a hat to play there.
You may well run and hide Mr Black Cap! Especially after the match against Chelsea at the weekend. Colocchini should have been shown a red for that kick in the face on Demba Ba!! I like Chelsea too :)
I would agree with damaging, some players have lost interest in international cricket because of the high salaries and loss of interest. IMHO the issues with the IPL lay with the ICC who should have looked at the league differently from the outset, many players up sticks and left other domestic...
India vs England today in Dharmasala, Im intrigued by this match given the recent low scoring efforts between the two, does anyone think this will be a different match? I have a feeling it could be high scoring, England need to make a statement before travelling to New Zealand.
