Yes correct, the idea is that the stronger "local clubs" will take over from the weaker subbies clubs in the higher divs.. Subbies will lose their funding next year, the hatch shield would no longer exist and instead each of the five regions would be aligned with a few district clubs that...

Good post, I'm not involved in the ECA but play in VTCA and know a bit about the restructure.. There is no plan to reduce the amount of turf cricket just split it into regions for less travel and clearer pathways to elite cricket. Clubs will be giving choices on what region they wish to play...

Your correct, the scrapping of 3rd and 4th XI premier cricket is on the cards. It is suggested that each club would have to field an under 21 and female XI instead. Even more reason that promotion /relegation into premier cricket wouldn't work

All very good points and no doubt Cricket Victoria have work to do. Premier Cricket isn't on the bargaining table I know that for sure, the clubs are or have been moved around Mebourne cover as much area as possible and adding a promotion/relegation system would throw that out. Not to mention...

I guess it will all depend on who goes into what zone. Clubs on the edge of two zones should probably get a one off choice to do whatever suits their club.

correct but hasn't stopped us using the current bonus point system for the 15 years I've played in the VTCA..

Bonus points system introduced into shield cricket.. Only kicks in once u have scored 200 or taken your 5th wicket during the 1st 100 overs of your 1st innings. Making the figure 100 runs/5 wickets and keeping bonus points available for both innings would remove the need for silly 5 over 2nd...
