Rat, I'm not sure if what you have just posted is a contradiction or an omission. When you wrote "I really don't know why we have a points system", did you forget to add 'In it's present form". I hope we are not going to re-hash whether the points system stays or goes again.
Evening up the...
Be interesting to see how Fawad Ahmed goes if he gets a test. He's had an amazing rapid rise to the top. I had a chat with him 18 months ago and asked him why it was he was able to take all those wickets in the VT? He repied I didn't do much, the batsmen kept trying to hit me out of the ground...
Yep, I agree with your comments whole heartedly. Without question home grown "A" Grade players born from a clubs junior developement program should definately be on zero points.
We should remember the VT points cap which is still in it's infancy and has been adjusted once or twice, was...
I gather you mean juniors whom have progressed through a clubs under-age squad. Rat'N'bat and a few others on this forum including myself have expressed the same sentement. The only problem I see with that senario is if maximum points stay as high as 42. An example as to what could occur is if a...
The association puts out an annual report each year at the AGM. When you get to read one you will learn who gets paid and who does not on the exec.

In the past when the vtca accrued sufficient funds in excess to its needs an exgratia payment has in the past been made to each of the clubs. This...
A lot of uninformed comments on this forum appear to be causing some angst among the contributors. I would hardly think the cost of affiliation would contribute to a club deciding to pull up anchor.
As I understand it, the standard wicket cover(small) keeps the track dry, however play is...
Where good self respecting curators are concerned, the use of sawdust on damp wickets and bowlers run_ups is like waving a red rag to a bull. Apparently it kills the grass and interferes with wicket preparation.
I agree clubs that are ready to go at season start should be allowed to proceed with there fixtured match.
If footy finishes early at a particular ground the council are most pleased, as it allows them to top dress the ground earlier prior to cricket starting.
From my understanding footy...
Thanks for the heads-up. From your calculations 5 clubs have definitely left the southern comp in the past 5 years with a further 2 definitely/possibly leaving soon. Thats around five or seven clubs have or will be effectively lost to the comp.Certainly not good in any bodies language. Still...
I have read all of your recent posts and I fully concur with most of your concerns and suggestions. You make some very good points. I do sympathize with "senior" seconds having to travel across town every 2nd match. I know that is a bitch, but it is unfortunately one of the down sides of...
Had a meeting recently with Rohan Obst,"Participation and growth leader" from Cricket Victoria. One thing that became very obvious to me and I must say I'm not surprised and that is , we suburban clubs are very much still on our own when it comes to encouraging children to take up cricket as a...
I wouldn't be so audacious as to suggest how a club should conduct its' affairs, except for club committees to look inwardly, for in there often lies the problem.
The VTCA is the clubs. The VTCA executive conducts the affairs of the association at the direction of the affilliated clubs. The last...
I have read with some interest the last 20 or so posts and tried to digest and understand the concerns of posters whom claim to be of the Southern VTCA competitions.
I think the first mistake some posters on this forum from clubs in the southern region fall into, is to compare "SOUTH" with...
My point exactly. Congratulations, you make a good synopsis. I'm very much in favour of leaving enough room in the points cap to allow a team to field 2 Gun players whether from overseas or local talent.
I'd be very interested on what others in the vtca think the points cap should be reduced...
I agree the vtca sysyem is working. By reducing the total number of points that a team needs to work within, leaves less room for the inclusion of players that carry 10 or 9 points. In turn it leaves more room for home grown players.
I also believe if an import comes in at 8, 9 or 10 points...
How would you define a junior that made his way into seniors and never left the club to play elsewhere. Would that player be allocated 2 points or would he in your opinion be classified as a zero player?
I must say I'm a fan of the player points system. However I have thought the total of points was too high. It's interesting the points have been reduced to 42. They need to be reduced further, which will enable competing clubs to compete on a fairer level playing field.
By allocating 2 points...
