Not sure what I have to do to get more of a bowl! I've played in six matches, the longest spell I've been given is six overs, the rest have been four over spells. I'm taking wickets but the captain still seems reluctant to bowl me. If he does the same thing again this Sunday I'll need to...
4 overs 0 maidens 10 runs 2 wickets today. Very satisfying, both wickets were right-handers bowled on middle/off including their danger man.
With the bat 2 not out and an easy win.
I practice on an astroturf net most evenings and our matches are on normal wickets.
I think I get good revs, it's hard to tell without something to measure them but when I'm bowling well and rhythmically yes I think I get high revs and action on the ball and what I want it to do when it...
Yeah I have tried a 7 step run too and used it during the 2014 season. I had a good session using my 11 steps in the nets tonight so I will probably stick with that for the time being. I don't particularly want to bowl fast, I just find that I am better at building up momentum with a slightly...
Thanks mate, yeah it's not going bad. A bit pricey but 9 wickets from four matches at a strike rate and average of just over 10.
I've been bowling off an eleven step run up as sometimes it gives me extra momentum going through the crease, but I might go back to my old five step run up as I...
3 overs 29 runs 1 wicket today. I got the wicket in the first over, a great catch at deep mid on and all was going well. For some reason I lost a bit of confidence and technique, got twatted in my third over and taken off.
I played two more matches since the last one.
First one bowling into a very strong headwind, didn't do much but had two dropped catches in the first over. Figures were 4 overs, 28 runs, no wickets.
Today was better, 3 overs, 13 runs, 3 wickets mopping up the tail one catch from the wicket...
Every ball I bowl, in practice and in games, I'm trying to rev as hard as possible but in a controlled and rhythmical manner. In my opinion, a leg spinners natural action is geared towards obtaining big revs. I'm sure everyone knows the feeling of bowling a couple of iffy overs, then finding...
This is me trying to recreate Warne to Strauss in the nets today, bowling around the wicket to the imaginary left-hander. This delivery was my third attempt (go fullscreen).
I don't think is anything to be ashamed of, personally. Some nets are very low for slow bowlers. In the net I used to practice in, at Milton Keynes Open Uni, it wasn't an issue as it was a high net. But when I moved to Northampton, I found the local nets were too low for my bowling and it...
I mostly practice in solitude and exclusively at the moment as I don't have a club.
Today I tried a "game" of 20/20 by myself. If I landed four consecutive deliveries in the same over which were a good line and length and turned how I wanted them to, that was a wicket. If it was short and wide...
I tried my hand at bowling the "wrong wrong 'un" at practice last night. At first it was all over the place, going down the leg side and not turning but merely straightening up a bit. But when I found the correct line (middle stump), sure enough it turned away to the off stump or just beating...
Haha, yeah I've had that too. The eyes glaze over pretty quickly or they just walk off. Next time I'm going to say that it's magic and only people with special powers can do it.
In my opinion, hours and hours of hand to hand practice. And then more practice. Until you can do it with your eyes closed.
Objects should be spun, too, like Philpott says. Anything that gets you used to finding that centre of gravity and imparting a whole heap of revs.
