When I started bowling leg spin I started off on the second team (there's no third team). I took wickets consistently and was promoted to the first team but the captain didn't bowl me, I played four games for the first XI including one where we had 280 runs to play with and needed ten wickets...
I am pretty happy with my pseudo-flipper (for some reason it breaks slightly to the leg side most times but I can bowl the odd straight one) and my embryonic slider as variations, for some reason I have never got to grips with a top spinner but I think that's down to a lack of effort and...
Hello everyone, I can't remember the last time I was on here but it must have been a while ago. I had to stop playing cricket as I moved house and started working long hours including Sundays :-(
But things have settled down a bit now so I am getting back into it. I've got my wrist and bicep...
I've got a game this Saturday.
I missed this place. I tried to catch up on this thread last night and read it all from when I last posted, but I got bored half way through as all of you can type for England.
Hello people. It is I, Darth Spin.
Well I pretty much had a season to forget. I really struggled for rhythm and couldn't even get it together in the nets. This was back in July I think, it's all a bit of a blur. Anyway I started a new job and then straight away had to move house as my...
Keep ripping that big leg break and top spinner. It's all you'll ever need. But if you're determined to bowl a googly just follow the basics, practice and it will come.
I've never had the luxury of giving away 60 free runs in a match unfortunately. The worst I've done is 30-0 from 3 overs in a t20, that was my second match. The second most I've conceded was 52 from 6 overs for 2 wickets. So I would disagree with the assessment that my bowling would cost 60...
Thanks mate, anyway someone has dropped out so I'm in there as the 11th man. I'll have to practice hard tomorrow as I was abysmal when I went down the nets the other night. It was like everything I'd ever learned had deserted me and I was trying it for the first time.
No reason, just looks like a jobs for the boys thing to me. Same players involved the most every week, others get the odd sniff. Should I be grateful for the 23 overs I've had or disgruntled? I feel there is little point practicing all year round if I am not used much. There are a lot of...
Hi Dave. I don't really see myself as a batsman but the other guys seem to think I have a good eye. I guess I should work on it more, but at the back end of last season I broke my little finger and damaged my wrist (on my batting hand) dropping a catch, and it still hurt going into the season...
Not really coming down at me, just swatted a few full balls away once he'd sized me up and been dropped. I had another match today and because of my 21 not out the other night the captain puts me into open. I get 6 runs before duly being bowled with the first really good ball I faced. And then...
I actually thought he'd taken it but it squirmed through.
Back on the horse tonight in another t20, a bit expensive with 4-0-26-2 but happy to be back in the wickets. First was a nice leggie, pitched around leg to a right hander, a play & miss and bounced onto his off bail. Second was a...
Good post mate I agree with what you're saying. I let the dropped catch get to me, the next one went down leg side and was swatted for 6, I then thought I need to do something so tried a wrong un which was hit for four and by then he was all over me. The last ball I was happy when it came out...
Sorry to hear about your woes. But at least you got a wicket!
I had a stinking t20 game tonight. I didn't bat and we made 119. So they're on about 50-1 with about six overs gone (15 overs, 8 ball overs). I'm given a bowl. First three balls are okay, they pick up a couple of singles. Next...
It was the one from the earlier game. It went okay, not great. Bowled a little bit short and slow but didn't get hit for boundaries. One guy got it for 34 runs from 7 balls at the end of the t20 game including four sixes in a row at the start of his first over.
