Re: Howard Nomination Under Scrutiny
LankaWeb – John Howard should not be allowed near cricket
This is why Sri Lanka does not want Howard in charge. I agree with them.
Re: Howard Nomination Under Scrutiny
I can understand why a country like South Africa wouldn't want a race-baiting bigot with a bag full of dog-whistles to be in charge of the ICC.
Some examples of John Howard 'telling it like it is':
On immgrants (specifically, non-white immigrants)
On...
Re: Geelong Cricket Chat 2010/11
I would have thought that most batsmen would prefer to be guaranteed a hit every week, rather than having to wait anywhere from 7 to 21 days between innings'.
As for the pyramid system, the majority of players who are identified as having the potential to play...
Re: Double Bouncing balls the next big thing?
It's silly indeed, but 20 years ago we would have said the same thing about the switch hit and the 'dilscoop'.
However, I'm sure that the moment somebody attempts to do it on purpose in first class cricket it will be banned, because innovation is...
Re: Can the Lions win the 2010 AFL flag?
The greater advantage an interstate side has at home as nullified by the disadvantage they have away from home. Collingwood still has an advantage at home against other Victorian sides because of their huge supporter base.
The most favourable part of...
Re: Can the Lions win the 2010 AFL flag?
I know why they play so many games in Melbourne, but it's a bit rich for a support of Collingwood (or indeed any victorian team) to complain about an interstate side playing at home too often.
There's no excuse for you to not finish top two this year...
Re: Can the Lions win the 2010 AFL flag?
Says a supporter of the team who plays 15 games every year at the MCG (Including the last 7 in a row this season)
Re: Group Stages Chat
An equally fair method of determining a winner in rain-affected T20 games would be for the captains to face off in a best of three series of Yahtzee, Uno, or Go Fish.
That is to say, it's **************** and 5 overs is not nearly enough time to determine a rightful winner.
Re: Question on Wides
That doesn't stop the problem of batsmen switching to draw wides. A better rule would be that there is no leg side if a batsmen switches his stance, so a wide can only be given if the balls travels outside the guidelines on either side of the pitch.
Re: Question on Wides
That is where your beloved spirit of cricket come into it! The moment somebody tries to do that they will be given a stern talking to and that will be the end of it.
It would not surprise me to see the switch hit banned altogether at some stage, not least because it will...
