Home finals are a much better way to operate.
Works perfectly well in subbies and has done for years.
Naturally there are tight rules around the use of covers but theses are easily enforced and no home side wants to run the risk of anything going wrong
Splitting the comp makes sense - we all play sport for the fun of the copmpetition, so hopefully making the competitions more even will will ensure better games
There is a chance of limited crowds for local footy, so the need to play their finals on ovals with turf wickets many be diminished.
I think we need to be open minded and maybe we start the season with 4 one day games on back to back Saturdays and Sundays
November 7,8,14 and 15.
Pre Christmas...
Under the circumstances I think working with the AFL and giving them some weeks in October is the fair thing to do.
Cricket could start on Saturday October 31 (Derby day) and play a couple of Sundays in November to catch up the fixture.
We could ask for no play on turf wickets from mid September...
Daniel Roe and Max Parker are both in the Vic Metro under 15 team and they both made hundreds today.
It was good to see all the teams take the field today
I beg to differ - not all of these lads in the DDCA are superstars and the 3 subbies clubs you mentioned would have half a dozen players that could play in those sides
I hope the crowd give respect to the MC and Mike Whitney tomorrow night.
Last year was embarrassing and we need to better as a competition.
The people who read this thread need to try and set the tone :)
