The problem I have always had with the IPL is that its not like a proper league in the sense of the teams being simply set up for the league, not county/state teams, not old school teams people have supported since young...simply teams made up of players bought for massive amounts of money...
Never thought of that, very good point. Change the format and all your historical records are out of the window as they start getting demolished, major shame for all those who put in massive performances in for their teams.
On another note I thought New Zealand were going to struggle after seeing their batting and then England coming in, but Southee did tremendously with his bowling to get 4 wickets off 17 balls. I thought we were strong in our second innings with Root shining with 71, again before Southee went and...
Definately, on the performance he is putting in its hard for them not too look at him...if he continues the way he is going then he will definately deserve a place...good player I think!
Great news if it does...many people dont get to see the IPL and it will offer an avenue to do so. Maybe with Youtube saying its likely to move to a paid option for streams, this could be a way for the IPL to gain interest and then move to the paid stream option once its live on Youtube...even...
Just seen that England have a friendly with a Chairmans XI on the 29th/30th November at Traeger Park....right in the middle of the Ashes...they are gonna roast in that heat. It will be interesting what impact it has on the guys as we arent used to heat in the UK! Heres the articles - England to...
Nottinghamshire did well this weekend in the Yorkshire Bank 40 beating Worcestershire.
friday 28th Junes a big one for me, Nottinghamshire v Leicestershire in the Friends Life T20....not a big T20 fan but this will be a nice game to watch with a beer or two if the weathers nice :)
I love my ODI, not keen on T20...I like the idea but would want to keep the ODI format constrained so it doesnt go on longer than it already does...if you know what I mean
Joe Root has been an inspiration for England Lions to gain the draw, I was going to go down but the weather was poor and it showed with the game getting rained off. Root is on for 1,000 runs this month and would be the first to do so in 75 years if he achieved it.
So NZ are warming up to their huge two game series against England and are not doing bad if the reports are to go by. The news is saying NZ got a solid start against Derby and with two half centuries whilst resting some players Im hoping the black caps give England a good run out on the 16th.
I suppose thats the problem, there has not been any blooding in of younger players to have much of a pool of players to choose from. Clarke may be an important batsman, but he is no leader in my view. Its a difficult one to call as it could be that they picked the best squad available to them, I...
To me its not about the schools playing cricket, which the schools I went to did.. and even had summer break training during the school holidays. Its about getting the kids to move from playing at school into teams outside of the school set up, this is where I have the issue...
Id be surprised if England do, Im sure NZ team will be unhappy with two matches against a second rate England team. Im hoping that for our sakes its a good turn out from both teams, for what little there is to play for.
I know the college and high school I went to actually put more effort into Cricket than Rugby, yet there were no local cricket teams trying to tap into this. We had everything for cricket training and teachers willing to put time and effort.
Your right that Rugby do it well, it would be...
Its not a series when its only 2 matches! Plus whats the point if we are not playing a 1st team...its becomes a non starter straight off...whats the point!!!! WHATS THE POINT!!!!
Lol so do I :) its great going down to Grace Road with a pint in hand for a great game of cricket...even more so when big names are on the cards with Division 1 cricket! COME ON LEICESTERSHIRE!!!
Funny as an article came out saying the selectors have finally got it right - but I feel Haddin is totally a wrong decision like you say. Harris I think is a good shout should he be fully fit for the series. Personally the article gets it wrong as the selectors are just playing it safe and most...
