Okay guys this topic has been bugging me a lot recently. All this scientific evidence does make sense but it still doesn't explain everything. If it simply comes down to the amount of revs you put on the ball, then why do finger spinners get more consistent drift than wrist spinners? The more...
I often sneak out onto the turf wick near my house, and bowl a few. But i rarely get to bowl on it when its completely match ready. When i do though however, i can really get the ball to turn, but i feel like on a match ready pitch, it wont be quite so easy.
As for my seam % alignment, it...
Cheers guys, I'm normally down there by myself but i can still see my seam relatively easily. And yes i think i'm just going to have to keep experimenting. Just out of curiosity though, i often play on a synthetic wicket on saturday and i noticed just how much difference the seem alignment...
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has found a particularly good way of getting a nice seam alignment. I know lots of people say 'just practise by throwing a ball from hand to hand'. I have absolutely no trouble getting a perfect seam doing that but as soon as I try a full length bowl it...
That's very interesting. Even though more and more people seem to be converting to the scrambled seam way of thinking, i can't help but notice that the orthodox rotation does cause considerable drift.
More and more people seem to be converting to that way of thinking. Give it a go! A guy on here posted a clip of warne bowling a scrambled seam slider to jaysuriya which evidently drifts. i think you might be right
i have a question, and i couldn't figure out how to start a thread so i'll just ask it here. Will a top spinner dip to the same extent when bowled with a scrambled seam? People often talk about how a scrambled seem inhibits drift so i thought perhaps the same went for topspin. I prefer to bowl...
Mate you'll find when its wet you have to bowl with MUCH more topspin to get the ball to grip. If your seam is anything less than about 11:30 (on the clock) then the ball will skid through. Bowling with this much topspin won't get you much spin, but any bit of movement you can get is beneficial...
Dave! I finally managed to get out to the nets today and i DEFINITELY begun to create drift! It was interesting how i found it. I took five balls down and i'd just bowl them all, go and collect them and repeat etc. I experimented for while with no luck, so i just decided to start practising my...
Personally i love bowling to left handers, because it makes your googly and slider absolutely lethal. I like to stay over the wicket and bowl slightly faster, making the ball cut back into their off stump and forcing them to play a shot. Then every now and then throw a slider along the same line...
Im raring to try! But i must say that i rarely ever drift the ball. I always figured that if i slowed my delivery down, it would have more time to drift. After reading this however, i now realise that it actually has to be a bit faster to drift. Im confident with the amount of revs i put on the...
I have! found some really useful stuff here too. Its been so difficult to find any reliable information about drift. This really clears things up. I saw you direct someone else to this website so i decided to check it out myself. So good!
That makes sense. It would also explain why finger spinners tend to get more consistent drift. Its much harder to spin the ball on a vertical axis using that action. I bowl off spin every now and then and it's extremely difficult to bowl the ball WITHOUT a slant. Take swan for example, he seems...
