2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

Come on guys, call off this test match in the middle of these ridiculous problems in England today, which are bigger than sport. I wonder if these are signs of global warming, but these have to be some of the worst floods in summer to have hit England. I think cricket is the last thing on the minds of most people in England right now. With the weather prediction as it is, are we even going to get any proper cricket?

England in a bit of trouble here. They're 3/80 after 22 overs.

Zaheer Khan struck twice early, removing both Vaughan and Strauss cheaply. RP Singh took the wicket of Pietersen as well for not a lot of runs.

Cook is 27 not out at the moment and it trying hard with Collingwood scoring at a run-a-ball 18.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

At stumps Englland are 7/169. On a day for the seamers the batsmen struggled with the top scores being 43 to Cook and 31 to Bell.

Kahn took 3 for India with singles to Sreesanth, Ganguly, Kumble and RP Singh.

This is an interesting start to this match and hopefully the game is allowed to have a result unlike the first.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

India is doing extremely well here, bundling out England for only 198 and already at 254/3 at end of 2nd day.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

This is getting embarassing for England. India have moved to 6/455, a lead of 257 runs.

Funnily enough, no-one in this Indian side has scored a century yet. Tendulkar has come the closest so far but was trapped LBW by Paul Collingwood for 91. Ganguly made 79 and VVS Laxman is 54 not out.

Just over 29 overs left today. We could see a declaration soon in the hope that India can prize a couple of wickets out of the English line-up late in the day.

Every bowler has a wicket except for Monty Panesar who has 2/90.

England would want to pick up these last few wickets soon. India already have a massive lead and with two days still remaining, it would be very hard for England to win this game.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

India lost last 4 wickets quickly, all out for 481. England were 43-0 at end of day 3. Can some big name like Kevin Pietersen save the match for England? KP always came short during Ashes series down in Australia, but this is "supposedly" the home soil and home conditions. I'm of course looking to Kumble for yet another inspiring performance for India on day 4. The man has proven time and time again how valuable he is for India in closing out test matches.

Actually, the weather seems to have been fine in Nottingham during this test, with good weather forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday.

Brits like things like cricket to take their minds off of more serious issues; so good for the country and good for cricket that it's on.

And, although it appears to have been pretty devastating, it's a bit of a leap to put the recent heavy rains down to "global warming". I guess with it becoming more politicized and media-driven, talk of global warming is going to arise any time there's any prolonged or unseasonable weather. 25 years or so ago, it was called "English Summer".

Sign of the times.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

At Lunch on day 4 England are going along nicely at 1/129 but are playing catch up and are still 154 runs behind. Cook was the only wicket to fall in the session getting dissmissed LBW by Kahn for 23. Strauss is on 54 and Vaughan is on 36.

From this position it looks as though the best result England can hope for is a draw whereas India should be going all attack to go one up in the series.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

England 3/178 now, still trailing by 105 runs.

Pietersen fell to RP Singh LBW for 19 with Andrew Strauss snicking one whilst on 55.

Michael Vaughan is not on 62.

Zaheer Khan is the best of the bowlers and has 2/42.

England had worked hard to get to the position they were in with a great first session on Day 4. India have struck back though and all that work has been undone. England will find it very hard to win from here, their lower order batting is very suspect. If Vaughan and company don't see off this deficit there is a fair chance they may still lose by an innings.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

India need only 63 more runs to win, with all wickets in hand on day 4. Barring some miraculous collapse, India should be 1-0 up for the series, which is simply incredible considering where they were in the 1st test.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

Vaughan made 124 and Collingwood 63 but after that, that was about it. Sidebottom made 25 not out but the rest failed to make an impact on the scoreboard. The tail continues to not score runs (Sidebottom the exception this time) and shortly after the batters are dismissed, the tail follows quite quickly.

Zaheer bowled well again, another five wicket haul for him.

India should win from here and will go up 1-0 in the series. Quite amazing considering they were comprehensively thrashed in the first game yet still managed to draw the match in the first test.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

India won by 7 wickets. Tremlett took all 3 wickets for England. Jaffer and Karthik both got 22 and Dravid got 11 not out. That wraps up the 2nd test and gives India a 1-0 lead which is quite fortunate considering the domination of England in the 1st test. Zaheer Kahn got man of the match for his 9 wickets.

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it fortunate, but it's very remarkable indeed! I mean, England were supposed to be 1-0 with their domination in test 1. But India completely dominated in test 2, so it would've been 1-1. How India escaped in test 1 was fortunate, but this test 2 isn't "fortunate". They truly dominated. It has been a long time since they dominated in a test on English soil (or even away from the subcontinent).

Re: 2nd Test: England vs. India at Trent Bridge

It's nice to see Chris Tremlett finally getting to play Tests for England, and doing quite well. He was the 12th man for the first 4 2005 Ashes Tests, but wasn't available when the fifth Test came around and Simon Jones was injured. If I remember correctly, he was underdone from lack of match practice at that point and may have picked up an injury as well.

yeah that's what i meant, it should be 1-1 in the series. Oh well such is life, England will have to move on and try and level up the series in the 3rd test.
