Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

At lunch on day 1 South Africa are 2/70. Gibbs made 13 and Amla got 10. The not out batsmen are Smith who is on 31 and Kallis who is on 13.

For Pakistan Umar Gul and Mohammed Asif are the wicket takers.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Graeme Smith bowled by Danish Kaneria for 46. South Africa now struggling at 3/100. The in form Jacques Kallis holds the key for them now once again.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

South Africa are 3/143. Kallis is 51 and Ashwell Prince is 14 not out. They'll need to stay together for a while to get South Africa into a strong position.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

South Africa are 4/189

Kallis fell LBW to Kaneria for 59.

Prince is on 43 and de Villiers is on 10.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

with 15 overs left in the day South Africa are in a strong position at 4/243. Prince is 63 not out and de Villiers is 39 not out. Pakistan will need to use the 2nd new ball very well now in order to restrict South Africa to a low score.

EDIT: Prince just bowled for 63 by Abdur Rehman, now 5/243. Oh how quickly things change in cricket.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

3rd last ball of the day, Boucher drives one, Asif gets a hand on it and de Villiers is run out for 45.

At Stumps on day 1 South Africa are 6/259. Good job by Pakistan, they will be hoping to bowl South Africa out in the first session and then only loose a couple of wickets. South Africa will obviously try and bat for as long as possible and try and give themselves as much to bowl at as possible.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

The tail didn't provide much assistance for Mark Boucher with the exception of Paul Harris. Harris showed he is capable with both bat and ball, making a solid 46 before falling to Umar Gul. Boucher was the last man out for 54 with the other three batters, Andre Nel, Dale Steyn and Makhaya Ntini making 0,0 and 0 not out respectively.

Souht Africa finished up all out for 357 from 125.1 overs.

In reply, Pakistan have made a sharp start, they're 0/32 after 4 overs. Salman Butt has raced to 20, Kamran Akmal is 12. They just took 19 runs off Steyn's second over.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Pakistan's quick start continued as they raced along till tea at over six runs per over. That however slowed up, Paul Harris took the wicket of Salman Butt for 40 which triggered a collapse of 3/9. Mohammad Yousuf fell 6 overs before the end of the days play reducing Pakistan to 4/123.

The ul-Haq's, Inzamam and Misbah made sure Pakistan reached the end of the day without any further losses. They're now 4/140 with both Inzi and Misbah 10 not out. Harris has 2/33 with the other wicket-takers being Dale Steyn and Andre Nel.

Game is evenly poised now with South Africa maybe slightly in front, Pakistan will need to get runs tomorrow with losing too many wickets early, what can Inzi do in his last test?

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Day 3 has started off alright for the Proteas.

taking 2 cheap wickets to have Pakistan in real trouble at 161/4

it's not going too well for Pakistan at this moment in time, they really are struggling.

Misbah-Ul-Haq has made his way to 25, while Abdur Rehman is the new man on the block with 1 at this moment in time.

come on South Africa!

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Pakistan 163-6.

If they're lucky, South Africa will have Pakistan all out before lunch. But even if they don't, their lead right now is 194. By the time they bat again, their lead should be somewhere between 100 and 150. They could potentially have a lead of 250 by the end of Day 3, and they'll be plotting when they want to declare tomorrow.

Okay, maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself here.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Andre Nel rocks Pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 wickets in an over, not a hat-trick, but close enough!!!

I think you might mean Makhaya Ntini. ;)

Oops, sorry!! :p  Got my N's mixed up. Still, pretty hard to confuse Ntini for Andre Nel, they're not lookalikes at all. :D I wasn't looking at any picture, just text and got it all mixed up.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Pakistan all out for 206

South Africa has a first innings lead of 151.

Forget what I said earlier about them having a lead of 250 at the end of the day, it should be a lot bigger than that.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

South Africa 66-2 at tea, a lead of 217.
They should lead by 300 at stumps, and they can probably declare by lunch tomorrow if they haven't lost all their wickets.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Stumps on Day 3 sees South Africa 2/154, a lead of 305.

Smith is 75 not out and Kallis is 37 not out.

The Proteas should get a pretty big lead here. Pakistan will be disappointed with the way have played in this test match and even more so considering it is Inzi's last game.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Hmm, that brings up an interesting point. The fact that it's Inzi's last test may convince South Africa to declare with a lead more like 450 than 400. Don't want to create an opportunity for him to steal the glory.

Though right now, with only 2 wickets lost, Smith and Kallis are definitely in charge of both this test and the glory.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Kallis and Smith scoring at a fairly slow rate so far on day 4.
After 20 overs, they're 189-2, good for a lead fo 340.

35 runs in 20 overs.
Wake me up when Day 4 starts for real.

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

211-2 at lunch, Kallis on 69, and Smith just got his 100

They lead by 362, but it looks like they'll bat for quite a bit longer, considering the pace their scoring at. Perhaps Smith will pick it up now that he has his century.
