4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

India declared at 7/269, Australia decided against chasing the target of 233 which would need to have been scored with only 16 overs in hand.

Sehwag was out for 151 and was the only scorer above 20. Had Sehwag been caught by Michael Clarke late yesterday, Australia probably would have won the game.

Anyway, Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson both took two wickets, the leading wicket-takers for the Aussies.

It turned out to be a pretty stale test in the end, the pitch didn't offer much to the bowlers which hampered both teams efforts to force a result. Perhaps the Adelaide Oval pitch needs to be juiced up a bit.

Sachin Tendlkar won the Man of the Match award for his first innings cenutry while Brett Lee picked up the Man of the Series award, his second in a row.

And, this test saw the retirement of Adam Gilchrist from test cricket,a truly great player and one that no-one will ever forget.

The tour now goes into one-day mode where Australia play India in a Twenty20 match on Friday at the MCG. The Commonwealth Bank tri-series starts after that on Sunday where Australia and India kick off the tournament with a game at the Gabba in Brisbane. Sri Lanka will also play in the series.

The oen-day stuff should prove to be very entertaining, definitely looking forward to it.

Yeah with the pitch offering virtually no assistance to the bowlers, with it just being a dead flat pitch for 5 days, the result deserved to be a dull draw. But another reason this match deserved to be a draw is beacuse of the dreadfully slow over rates of both captains, how boring for everyone on tv and the spectators at the ground that it takes so much time for the bowlers to complete overs and start overs. Yes okay the captains need to think of tactics for each batsmen and it may take time to sort out and get fielder's attention, plus there were batsmen getting treatment on the ground. But it was still dreadfully slow, the umpires, who both have done a splendid job this match in their decison making, didn't do enough to hurry them up. A disappointing end to a good series, not great but good, it seems India are the only team who can give Australia a run for their money, especially in Australia.

Yeah, too much time wasting is not a good thing. I really enjoy watching bowlers who can get though overs quickly.

Yeah, the slow over rates were a problem too. I don't mind all that much as long as they get the 90 overs in without going too late. I think it's pretty much accepted that teams will go over time, the state of today's game with tactics and other such stuff sees the game extend for another half hour which isn't too bad for the TV viewers and spectators.

The umpires and the ICC probably need to sharpen up on this though. Australia and India have been bad all series and it was only after the umpires said something in this test that the captains quickened the over rate up. In fact, the last two days were pretty good, Australia was one over ahead on the last day.

It's something the ICC needs to look at. The fining of match fees for the respective captains would make them speed up pretty quickly.

Would have been a result under Timmyj Plan. Indies first innings 152 overs.
Bandis 181 overs. In their second innings Indies would have 48 overs,
Bandis 19. Fans would have got something for their hard earned
money. Instead, they paid to see five days of batting/bowling practice.
