All Round Skills: Single Wicket Games

In searching for a drill that would help to include as many as possible, single wicket games kept coming up as an option.

The basic premise is that it's a normal game, but it's really only bat against bowler. You can make it a set number of overs or until the bat is out. Those not involved in the main contest field (9 plus a keeper).

The great thing about this game is that it works on so many levels from the batsman having to look for runs, the bowler having to keep it tight and the fielders needing to be on their toes.

Fielding is especially tricky as due to the fact there is only one bat, there is only one end to aim for and riskier singles can be taken.

You can also increase the difficulty of the game by introducing scoring zones (great if you have a lack of fielders). Use cones to mark out area that the ball must pass through in order to score etc.

If you want a fun practice session or something different, give it a try!

Used to do this a few years ago, it's a pretty good session and makes a change from just netting or working on fielding etc.
