Anti-Virus

So, my free version of Norton's has finally run out and I need a new anti-virus.

Recommend me something that works and won't eat all the resources on my machine.

Re: Anti-Virus

From my experiences anything is better than norton. The fact it seems happy to hide any viruses on your computer didnt go down well with me. Ive heard Avast! is quite good. Free aswell.

Re: Anti-Virus

Having not used Avast or AVG, I can't comment on them. I have used Kaspersky in the past and currently I am using NOD32. Both are very reliable. Kaspersky has one of the highest detection rates and the definitions updated hourly. NOD32 uses less resources but is as effective. It takes less time to scan the whole hard drive as well. Although, according to some reviews Kaspersky has improved significantly in that respect.

I like the idea of the free anti-viruses (I'm cheap lol) but I feel safer paying for one.

AVG free is a good option, never had a problem with it.

Re: Anti-Virus

Have to say that at the moment Kapersky seems to be doing the job nicely and seeing as they have a sale on it's not to expensive.

A vast improvement on Norton at any rate.

Re: Anti-Virus

yeh it suks that we have to use stuff like this now the silly people that started hacking and viruses

Re: Anti-Virus

NOD32 for me. Norton and McAfee both killed my machine so after a bit of research I went for good old NOD.

Seems to update on a regular basis and keeps my machine clean.

Try it if you get a chance!

Re: Anti-Virus

Norton used to slow my PC down so I uninstalled it. I haven't used any anti virus for a long time. But I recently found out that my PC was badly affected. Lost a lot of files :cry Could you tell me if Kaspersky or whichever you have been using is reliable because I need to get a good anti virus soon.

Re: Anti-Virus

I use Nod 32 its easy to use you dont do anything it updates by itself and you dont have to scan anything it does that by itself and My friend say norton 360 is good cause it allows you to do lots of things like to clean up disks but i would reccomend Nod 32 and if u need temporary antivirus protection u can download this AVG antivirus from download.com and ppl say its pretty good :D

Re: Anti-Virus

I would have to say either of NOD or Kaspersky.

Go to their websites and try out the free trials they have. I can't decide which is better as they both seem to do a really good job.

AVG is ok but it can be annoying as it will update whenever you are on the net or if youa re in the middle of typing up something.
I would actually recommend going with McCaffree which is pretty good otherwise stay with what you were with. Some of the freebies are shit.

Re: Anti-Virus

Avast has been top notch for me, its just fast, doesn't bog down your machine, detects almost all viruses other's do, updates thrice daily at peak times, and most of all, its free! :)

It doesn't get any better! :)
