Australia in New Zealand

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Watson looks like he has a badly brusied hip after being hit by Johnson in nets, the Australian is reporting that Watson won't play; Phil Hughes will take Watson's spot.

If it's true it will be a big blow for the Australians and Watson, however I haven't heard anything else from other sources and as the incident was said to happen on Wednesday, I would have thought more sources would have been onto it.

Cameron White is a clunky batsmen, not suited to test cricket - his dismissal in the shield final was a perfect example.

Stop banging your drum eddie - it's boring.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Watson is out, Hughes failed yet again, his test average continues to plummet, think its under 20 if you take out the 2nd test in South Africa

Australia will be in trouble when Harris breaks down again now they dont have Watson

Haven't you got anything better to do then slag of players that don't play for Victoria?

PS: What ever happened to that old lady who became obsessed with you and hunted down your myspace profile? :D:D

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Frustating day so far for the Australians.

Dismissed Batsmen

Hughes: played some good drives early, but he almost seemed to get caught in the moment and played a poor shot. Edged to slip. Cut shot - toe of the bat.

Ponting: Looked good, was playing a typical solid knock. Working the singles mainly and then every now and then cutting lose with a pull shot. Was sold down the river by Katich and ran out by yards.

Hussey: Played a great cover drive and then edged a ball he should have been leaving. Poor shot in my book, but the ball did leave him a touch through the air.

In Progress

Katich: Playing one of his typically boring knocks. Seriously, Katich bores me shitless. Needs to make 150+ considering how he cut Ponting's innings short.

New Zealand

Have been holding a steady line and length. Not much pace there but Martin has been getting the ball to curl through the air as has Southee. Vettori has been extremely economical, has been bowling a beautiful arm ball.

Australia: 130/3 off 45.4 overs.

I forgot, only you are allowed to constantly bag the same players :)

Good to see Australias no1 batsman performing yet again, certainly alot better than given credit for

Re: Australia in New Zealand

LTD- The Kat bores you? Who gives a ****? At least he's making runs- I'd rather have a grafter make 100 then watch Hughes play like a T20 game and get out for 20! ;)

I see Clarkes gone to 3 off 33. On fire!

Trouble is every time he looks up at Vettori's golden locks it reminds him of the Bingle and the eyes tear up- he's batting blind at the moment- so he's doing an alright job :D

:D :D :D

The Kat is a bit boring, but very effective, its not a one day game and even then he has shown in recent years an improvement in his strike rate in limited overs matches

I agree - who gives a ****?

However, fact is, he bores the shit out of me - but I still want him to score runs, because the team needs rusn. In saying that, after his shocking run out of Ricky Ponting he still needs a hell of a lot more runs to get back to the positive as far as I'm concerned.

Ponting was leading the charge, and then he was sawn off by an stupid call. Katich needs at least 150+ to make up for that.

Don't mention the Bingle on these boards.

What is White up to today?

Where abouts in the Australian test team is the bear batting? :D

Re: Australia in New Zealand

They reckon Katich has been involved in 9 run outs and never been out once

He's out now anyway, LBW.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Katich doesn't call, he starts running and then calls and then runs out his captain, then puts everyone to sleep.

Who can forget him playing in the ODI side.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

4/238 now, Clarke just brought up his 50 and North is on 28. North has looked okay so far.

Just under 14 overs left today.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Cop that.

North has every right to stick the two fingers up at the clowns who wrote him off. Fancy wanting to play the bear over the north.

Hero of the Day

North - for his gutsy knock - came out and showed intent from ball 1 and lifted the scoring rate.

Villian of the Day

Katich - for putting people to sleep after running out the Punter.

Play of the Day

The streaker in the morning session, obviously came to the cricket with a intention of streaking.

The punter gets another mention, at one point he was tapping down the grass metres away from the pitch. Perhaps that is taking gardening to the extreme.

Verdict:

Australia's day.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Yeah but I think North was the one who started the late run.

He came in and immediately went to work, driving a 4 in his first few balls and then climping one for 2. That set the team in motion, after Katich had put everyone to sleep and allowed the kiwis to dictate.

Clarke scored a ton, sure, but North was under pressure and played a very good knock - very self assured.

As such I gave him the 'hero of the day' title.

Katich was the Villian, Punter would have scored a ton but he was sawn off by the Kat.
