Australia In South Africa

WOW the doom and gloom squad are at their best. Change nothing move on to the next test and consider changes after the series. Make them slow and well defined. Why the panic, panic changes on every loss and does not know why they keep loosing.

And yes that was a horrid pitch and the SA board should be embarrassed. Yes we batted poorly and so did they. In the end a day and the heavy roller did the trick.

Panic changes at every loss? You are aware that this team (apart from two players, Marsh and Lyon) Is the same line-up that got blown away in Melbourne?

Yes and how many have rolled through the team in the past couple of years. Stop the panic. Clearly there are a few issues but they played well together in SriLanka so do not be so harsh. I agree that Pontings time is now and he must leave this summer or what is already getting embarrassing will be humiliating. Hus has been going well and yes i agree Hughs is on his last hope but talk of Katich returning is a laugh. Go with the young bowlers and cop it sweet for a year while they find there way.

The only change right now for me is johnson, he does nothing for the team and continues to fail when needed. Time is up.

You are saying don't change players then you want Johnson dropped. That's making a change. And one I agree with. I want him gone from the team, he's about as much use as Steve Harmison was to the English team in the last 2 years of his international career. Stuff all 90% of the time.

Fair enough in the reading. The point is the same. No need to make changes in a panic on tour. They will have to play out the next test then it is up to the new selection panel to decide where we are going for the future. I have supported Johnson for a long time but it is enough, he does not give the team anything on a regular basis. So if you must have a head now to feel beter have his.

The new guard is not making the calls for the second test, it's still up to the old guard or at least the still yet to depart Chairman of Selectors. Due to Marsh's injury, Khawaja will come in and that will be it for the batsmen. If Marsh hadn't been injured it would have been far more interesting as they may have had to use their selectorial powers for the batsmen instead of just hitching onto an injury.

A bowler will be dropped, if anything.

Why are you so sure that Hughes is out of form? He got a ton on the flat track at Premadasa. I think the Saffers have bowled fantastically to him they've given him no room to manouvre. Steyn gave him one length wide delivery and he jumped all over it belting it to the boundary, but that is the only one he has received.

Ah my mistake, I thought the old selectors were relieved of their duties straight away, not until after this series. Well it will be interesting to see what happens when the new selectors begin their terms when the series against NZ begins. It's fair to say that some changes should be made when the cricket returns to Australia because we've certainly underperformed for the best part of a couple of years.

Hughes just looks like he's struggling totally at the moment, very tentative and doesn't have the finesse or the flambouyancy that he had when he was dominating sheild cricket and his early test cricket innings. Unfortunately, there's no-one to replace him with, Katich is gone for good and the rest are struggling.

If the South Africans bowl as badly as they batted, our guys could easily get a lead here. The track is flat and our team is full of flat-track bullies. They must be licking their lips.

I have no idea what was going on inside the heads of most of the South Africans. There were so many catches outside of the slips. Bloody rubbish, they only need to draw to take the series so what was the rush?

Australia 1/188. Got off to a rapid start in the first session but have been slower since then. Hughes got out for 88 but Watson is still there on 84 and Khawaja is on 5.

Without doubt one of the best sessions of cricket I have seen. I was waiting for the punch in the guts after lunch, and it came.
Hughes made 88 but his technique is appalling. Watson looked awesome, and then he looked like he started to get the wobbles once he got into the 80's.Khawaja has an impressive technique and given time will be a sensational player. Just needs to work the ball and pinch more singles. Ricky Ponting, well barring a match winning 2nd innings I think it is over for him and the heat is now on Haddin and Hussey. Should have made 400 but now have to bat on a crumbling wicket.Hopefully Tahir wil run onto the pitch one more time and get kicked out for the rest of the match.

Another weak middle order performance. That was last summers signature, we have much to do to get out of this test. I don't imagine the South Africans will make that mistake twice as they didn't in the first test. Long way to go as a team, they are all playing for their futures instead of as a team and it shows.

About the best you can say is that Cummins was unlucky, he could have had four. The future looks better with the younger players. I hope this is the end for Johnson it is simply just not there for him. well lets see what we are chasing.

Looking good to get home now, it will be quite funny if the 2 most unreliable players in the Australian side actually manage to do it.

Good grief, what an end to that match. Pat Cummins... must be great to be 18. What do you know of nerves at that age? He's going to be something else.

I always like watching Johnson bat and he was on one today. Striking it so cleanly. His driving was great. Get him out of the team though.

When Haddin was dismissed and walking off the ground I suspect he felt the glare of two million Aussies who were thinking some very evil thoughts about him.Johnson should give up bowling and work on his batting as he could just about hold a spot as a specialist bat. When he is 'on' his technique is as good as any. I hope Clarke does not live off that 152 for the next six months.Cummins is going to need a minder to ward of the prospective women looking to become the next WAG. Poor lad.......

Just managed to stay up to see the end, what a match, it's what Test cricket should be like. What a shame there isn't going to be a 3rd one..

Problem for Johnson is his batting is as inconsistant as his bowling. I get the feeling that this will be enough for the team to stay together for the kiwi's. They fought it out hard and won so good on them. How lucky are we to have Cummins on the rise.
