What about David Hussey? You're quite happy to keep blaming every other Australian player except the Victorians. Hussey made it a duck yet it's everyone else's fault they batted so slowly. At least the others scored more than zilch.
Everyone keeps telling us he is a West Australian  :p

But I'm sure Huss could have scored a nice easy 5* if he batted like Watson but he probably actually had a crack

Re: Australia in the West Indies

ease up mate
hussey got out because he was having a dip
and dont read too much into that match anyway
eleven11 isn't a game of cricket

Re: Australia in the West Indies

ODIs start tonight, Symonds still being rested

Interesting that cricinfo think White will play instead of Dussey, but I cant see Australia playing just 4 batsman and the 3 all rounders

Re: Australia in the West Indies

surely we will play with D.Hussey over white
I wouldn't class White as an all rounder anyway the way he bowled in the eleven11 over match the other day
I rate White as a bat though but Hussey is better @|

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Oh because he bowled 1 bad ball when Australia had already lost due to their shithouse opening bowlers he cant be rated a bowler?

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Well what a suprise, the cricinfo team is correct, although the current listed team has White at 6 (Rightfully so) but I doubt it will end up like that, they will surely not put the NSW keeper all the way down at 8

No, he just isn't good enough. White is primarily a batsman who can bowl a bit, nothing more than that.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

The first of the one-day games has been underway for about 30 minutes. West Indies decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

Shaun Marsh is on debut for Australia and the youngster has started well, he has 28 not out from 35 balls as Australia sits on 0/51 after 9 overs. Shane Watson was Marsh's opening partner. "Watto" is up to 20.

Andre Fletcher is on debut for the Windies today. Fletcher is only 20 years old and has played only nine List A games and 13 first-class matches so far in his career. It looks like he will bat four, coming in after Ramnaresh Sarwan. He also bowls some part-time medium-fast when required.

West Indies are already onto their 5th bowler despite not bowling ten overs yet. Amazingly, Chris Gayle opened the bowling along with Jerome Taylor who bowled the very first over.

West Indies XI: *Chris Gayle, Xavier Marshall, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Andre Fletcher, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, +Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Jerome Taylor, Sulieman Benn, Fidel Edwards

Australia XI: Shaun Marsh, Shane Watson, *Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Cameron White, James Hopes, +Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken.

Xavier Marshall just injured his shoulder pretty badly diving to stop a boundary :(

The commentators said it looks like it could be his series over

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Ponting is bowled by Taylor for six after dragging one onto the stumps from a fair way outside off stump.

2/96 after 19 overs. Marsh up to 55 not out, a fifty is his first ever international one-day game. He is the 8th Australian player to do this.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Sammy gets Michael Clarke. Clakre tried to run it down to third man but got a thick edge which was taken by Denesh Ramdin.

3/117, Marsh up to 65 now. Michael Hussey is the new batsman.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Marsh out now, not what Australia wanted. Sammy bowls a slower one, it's right in the slot and Marsh drives but it goes straight to Gayle at cover.

4/140 after 31 overs, Marsh made 81 on debut. Brad Haddin is the new batsman.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Haddin and Hussey's 91-run partnership comes to an end. Sulieman Been breaks thorugh as Haddin smashes one down the ground but can't beat the fielder at long-off.

5/231 after 44.4 overs. Hussey playing tha anchoring role, 34 not out at this stage. He'll need to have a dip now with a little more than five overs left.

The big hitting Cameron White walks to the crease.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

They'll go the slog now, White is a good man to have in now. 280 would be nice.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

First ball of the 48th over, Hussey goes the slog and is caught in the deep off the bowling of Gayle.

6/248, that was a crucial wicket. White is seven not out, he is the key now, if he can go hard, Australia could get 280. James Hopes arrives at the crease.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

White LBW to Sarwan. White tried to hoick the ball over midwicket but the ball struck him in line with middle and although he is struck high, it is not high enough for any doubt.

White out for 8 and Australia are 7/251. Brett Lee is the first of the bowlers to bat and also a decent striker of the ball.

EDIT: Lee hits a huge six!! That's onto the roof!!

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Australia finish on 8/273 from their 50 overs. Dwayne Bravo bowled James Hopes on the third last ball of the innings. Hopes played onto his stumps off a full delivery.

Brett Lee's little cameo sees him not out on 12 from only five balls while Mitch Johnson scored three runs from only one ball faced. Shaun Marsh retains top score with his 81, a great effort on debut. Haddin's 50 was next and then Hussey with 44.

Darren Sammy was West Indies' best bowler with 2/31 and Dwayne Bravo took 2/54 but was expensive from his eight overs. Taylor, Gayle, Benn and Sarwan shared the rest of the wickets with one apiece.

So, an interesting chase we have coming up, there's no Chanderpaul for the Windies so Gayle and Sarwan are going to have to be prominent in the run chase and Dwayne Bravo also depending on where he bats. The younger guys, Marshall, Pollard and Fletcher will need to do their bit as well.

Hopefully, West Indies can put up a bit of a fight although cricinfo doesn't seem to be quite as optimistic.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Shaun Marsh made the second-highest score by an Australian one-day international debutant to set up a convincing 84-run victory in the first ODI in St Vincent. Marsh top scored with 81 as Australia reached a challenging 273 for 8 and an excellent new-ball spell from Brett Lee all but extinguished West Indies' chase before Nathan Bracken cleaned up the tail to finish with four wickets.
