They reckon the lake will fill up with water by 2011 so i would suggest they run a pipe from there to water the city and western ovals........no end of water from the lake with all drains leading into it.........although you would bet the local athletics would be sniffing around again as they arent happy with their million dollar plus establishment. too bad.:D

thnks for that piece of information stick... all of us were really worrying about the pipes leading to lake wendouree. great topic buddy. keep it up @|

seems things have become heated in my time away. GPCC cricket trip to gold coast - very sick at the moment

i like you yapper, think brat cricket isn't to good. i can imagine the swan hill comp would be far better than ours......

i hope you do try play in this comp because the hardest thing for you to do would be try and find a club after some of the stuff you have written here....

well i no it may be hard for u to hear that a comp would be a little bit better than the bca but u may be pleasantly suprised. the consistent 50s that i hav been hitten in the swan hill comp will easily be converted to 100s in the bca... its just a matter of which club i choose to stay at.

fair enough pidge. lets talk some serious cricket then....

having played in the ballarat cricket assoc for the past 24 years, with most of the past 18 in a grade, i have noticed a change in the grass that most pitches are using, & its affect on how the game is played. with your extensive a grade experience pidgeon fan, what type of grass do you think they should be using for ballarats pitches & climate, & what effect do you think it will have on the game itself?

furthermore, are you aware of any advances in technology of the box protector, a most important part of the cricketer?

and lastly, im not sure if shane harwood, peter leach or neil lee is the quickest bloke i have ever faced, who's your pick?

How about Dave Walkendon from Wendouree City? He was scary quick off only a few steps and wasn't right in the head either. Faced him in my first game in '92 and after not seeing the first one, nicked the second and turned to watch it all the way back to the slips that must have been a pitch length back.

now wouldnt it be great to have some input into this conversation from pidge considering she is the one that wanted some serious cricket conversation. but no, all we get is mindless crap about nothing & her banging on about knowing the rules coz she has been on her longer than everyone else, when in fact her knowledge of the rules is friggin zero which matches her knowledge of the game!!!!

& yeah, 'gadget' was quick, but i always felt like harwood, leachy & stacky just plain wanted to hurt you real bad.....

Where does Gilligan (Jeff Rieniets) rate in this list. There was a couple of years there in the mid to late 90's that Harwood and Rieniets went on a terrorising rampage in the competition. I was lucky enough to only have to face Harwood but sitting at short leg to Rieniets was an awesome experience watching the whites of some guys eyes and the legs quivering a bit. It was a pity that he didn't crank it up at training too often, but when he did it was a triffic challenge.

Will never forget 2 Neil Lee incidents. He sconned Jeffers (on 80 odd) in the left temple when he was playing a forward defence - just totally deceived hime with awesome pace and bounce. Tim McLeod then got hit in a Semi Final with the ball going through!!! the gap between helmet peak and grill and decking him. Was at the other end and the sound was ugly and the resultant bruising uglier.

Good to see bit of cricket getting mentioned on a cricket site. Last 5 pages have been a bit of a battle. It's a good site, bit like a pack of mixed nuts. Unfortunately, even in a good pack, there's always gunna be some peanuts.

Wouldn't mind yapper 3 coming to our club. Anyone who can bag the association crowned the best in Victoria this year must be some player. Hopefully he lets his bat do the talking because what comes out in his messages sounds like he'd view life a bit like "a box of chocolates".

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Just wondering if anyone had picked up any players as yet.

Heard the Darley lions are extensively recruiting some players already to further improve.

Any players heading to melb district cricket???

Heard Karl Mayne and maybe S Miller and E Johnson were thinking of going. That could put a dint in the Red caps side.
S McVitty will play another year at the Mounties before heading.

If the Darley recruiting is anything like the footy, they will be in for a good season.

I know im only a young bloke and neil is probably past his prime...but i remember first facing him when i was 14. i angled a couple through backward point for four and then one down to fine leg. I have never seen someone want to kill me as much as he did that day...every ball from there on in was chest or higher...top bloke though!! but yeah will never forget that look...would love to have seen him in his prime...
