BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

The nominees for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton, boxers Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe, plus athletes Paula Radcliffe and Christine Ohuruogu - are the top favourites.

Golfer Justin Rose, motorcyclist James Toseland, tennis player Andy Murray and England rugby stars Jonny Wilkinson and Jason Robinson complete the candidates.

No cricketers this year but who do you think should win? Anyone is an improvement on the royal who leeched off her horse!

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

Flipping hell there is some unworthy people on there.

Paula Radcliffe - She always does the same thing, nothing special
Christine Ohuruogu - Cleared of missing 3 tests. Cant have a suspect druggy winning.
Andy Murray - Injured most the year!
Johnny Wilkinson - How many more times?

For me its Between The Hitman Hatton and Calzaghe

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

The fallacy is that it's awarded to the biggest personality. It's a glorified popularity contest, where by the person with the highest profile normally wins.

Hamilton must be odds on favourite although his moving to Switzerland gaff will have upset people.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

I suppose Hamilton is actually the most worthy just crumbled under the pressure at the final hurdles. Atleast there is none of the good for nothing footballers this year! None of them deserve a look.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

Ricky Hattons almost certainly gonna get the sports personality of the year award if he wins tonight : \    hamiltons got a good chance though, i reckon he would have got it for certain if his car didnt decide to break lol - i really should go for lewis hamilton to get the award though as he is from the same town as me and the street 1 min from me ;)

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

Jason Robinson for me, he's showed outstanding strength, speed and courage for years in both forms of the game.

His retirement will leave a massive gap in the England side, with the speed and strenght of the man just cant be replaced.

An award would be a fitting ending.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

Well Hatton lost his fight so i think its going to be Lewis Hamilton to win it and to be honest he is probably the one that most deserves it.
