What does everyone think about these? Obviously they are good as they stop players getting injured but I don't like it when they are in too far.

The city side of the WACA is in a good 10M, why do they have to make it like they are all 'standard'. The Adelaide Oval used to be famous for its long straight boundarys, now they just bring them in 15M.

I'm sure the spinners would like the larger playing area.

It's because people want to see 4's & 6's with the ropes in you get more of them I guess.

Re: Boundary Ropes

The ropes are a sensible idea for fielding purposes. They are also good commercially as the rope is now just another advertising board.

The boundaries have been brought in for one simple reason - more sixes brings in the crowds.

Re: Boundary Ropes

As said above they are brought in for the purpose of making it easier to hit boundaries. As we all know 4 and 6's equal entertaining cricket .

They serve a purpose in making it a bit safer for blokes fielding on the boundary but then again they do bring them in a bit too far.
