Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Mackie were about 6-130ish with Verral batting well on about 20, Mackie losing wickets steadily.
ESBC bowling good lines, dotting up the machine batsman eventually making way for a big stroke which involved the removal of T.Krotofil, C.Park, B.Clark which did not help the machines cause.
The best patch for mackie was when Clark was when Clark & Verral were running well between wickets sweating on the short stuff until Dallas returned and after Clark had got him away a few times eventually held out opening the Machines tail......

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Army,
You summed it up well. An administrative error was made. One would have thought that a charge so serious would have been required a special hearing to be conducted, but can't do that can we.They would have to deal with the skipper, and 7 matches would be harsh.

The first tribunal hearing was invalid and should dismissed and the case heard by an independent tribunal from another competition. As for skippers being suspended, again I have no issue, but you only have to look at the last 12 or so decisions and see how many skippers have either been found not guilty or given a suspended sentence.

(West Bentleigh) Longmuir Shield - Breaching the Code of Conduct CMCA BY-LAW 7.
Result - Guilty Penalty - Reprimand:How many times has he been reported in the past 5 years????

(Omega) Woolnough Shield - Failing to control team
Result - Not Guilty:Only report for the game so obviously the umpire(s) thought there was something in it.

They decide to get tough in Round 11 of the season in a game where there is no impact to the finals.Just out of curiosity, why wasn't the Juggernaut skipper reported in the Preliminary Final? Clearly he failed to control his team mate who was suspended.Once again Army just one of those quirks and bouts of hypocrisy that infects this competition.

Clocker - I appreciate the angle you are taking here, but surely you're having a laugh if you believe that Duddy had something to answer for. Rocky made a 3 word comment after receiving a send off from 2 players (which in itself I hardly find a reasonable excuse to miss a Grand Final), but the captain can't be held accountable for one of his batsman retaliating to a send off.
Put simply a player receives a send off from 2 players and retaliates to the 2nd barb. It should've been left out on the field. It's a complete farce and wreaks of tall poppy syndrome. Justice was served yesterday with Rocky ending the weekend as a premiership coach.

Absolutely cracking game at Chisholm Reserve with the result decided in the last over. Mackie were brilliant defending their low target, but in the end experience prevailed and East Sandy's reign of terror continues.

And while ESBC completed a triple treat, Moorabbin West completed a trifecta of their own coming up short for the 3rd time in 3 years. I didn't see much of their batting, but looking at the scores it appears they barely gave a yelp.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Well done to our boys, 8th flag in 9 years!!!
Good to see some of the fresh faces (Avro, Heater, P-man) in the team getting to enjoy the spoils of bringing "Ray" back the Chis!
Great to see Biggie get amongst them! He was fresh as he had not troubled the crease too often this year! What's that saying Rat, "commeth the man,......" Great stuff Barge-ar5e!

The Juggernaught, (or Jellies as you said Merl, which is interesting seeing we only lost twice all year) rolls on!!!!!!!

Well done to all other premiership winners!

Quite correct Mick.Just trying to put a case.In any event the Juggernaut, unlike the Titanic not only smashed into the iceberg but smiled and just kept going. Not sure what happened on saturday but just about every team batting first got the wobbles at some stage.Mackie would have loved another 50 runs, but it was not to be.They had a great year and the Juggernaut did it the hard way via the Preliminary Final. Then you have the Centrals who won two flags and they are probably still going hard assuming they can get away from their cards game. They have some very good young players coming through the ranks and if they can keep them, they have a bright future. The West Stars have to start again, but to their credit they stuck with their kids. They will be better for the experience.Chelsea Heights join Woolnough next season after a heart stopper at Beazley reserve. The Wash ups really fought hard but just fell short. Well done to all Premiership teams, and to the rest there is next season to look forward to and try to go one step further.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

gone missing merlot? not going to give us a post telling us which red youre drowning your sorrows with?

your know what they say.. 2 out 3 aint bad.. 8 our of 9 is good too i guess

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

The sun came up today,

Merl still has two arms and legs, many still want to know who he is, a few missing jellies made a rare reappearance on the BCF after their mob manipulated another win but who cares!!

I hope Biggie didn't get plastered, fanta pants was still able to walk the dog and the dud has fixed his key board problems.Just hope you will return more often and not leave it to Uncle Mick and I to keep the BCF winter fires burning.

Jimmy who took Harry home no mention of it in your report. My courier tried to deliver the prestigious Merlot Horlicks trophy to the palatial 88.3 studios on Saturday morning but the place was locked up as tight as a drum. Please advise when a suitable time to have it re delivered or alternatively Vinnie I will have it delivered to your place if you PM me with an address.

My spies at the brick have queried why a well past it BBQ was officiating and then proved it by missing a vital run out and then inventing no ball rules which left everyone at the game mysterfied!!!This after a less than ordinary effort at the hamburgler's tribunal where his evidence was quite dammning.

On better news Blairy I hear you are still on the trial and I believe congratulations are in order to young Robbie who progressed from Haw Monash 4ths to the seconds during his first season.Must be a bit of the old man's grunt in him!!!

Burger the photo kit, congratulations you have finally won something apart from poker!!!not that you had much to do with it, the poor old west wobblers self destructed once again which is just not fair after a great season.

Commiserations to both Botts who I did envisage both having Premiership medallions but cruelly no cigar.

I am amazed at the short sightedness of critics of the 10 team comp which has been proven to improve and equalise the competition. All clubs would play 9 x two day games , the competition in each grade stronger as the bottom sides drop down a level where they would be competitive and will surely come back a stronger side as they will have stronger competition.

You can have all the Omega,Brighton District,Hampton Central stories and no toilet paper both if Barrack and Congress ever approve it you would expect a one to two year changeover so clubs know where they stand.

I am not sure why i have just wasted my time writing that as Bertie the Bookie will give you odds of a million to one that Barrack would ever consider it.I am sure Arch will support me with his two bob's worth as we have often talked about while sipping a frothy on the boundary line at the footy during winter.Bring it on.

Apologies to participants of the SCFTC for no results as Merl has had some major problems which has both prevented his regular nightly bulletin and the updating of the results.

until next time... keep searching.... vino sipping poster..... Prof Merlot

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

No worries Merl, why would you want to shorten how many bats you get in a season???

Lets make it 9 now and throw in a wash out to make it 8 yippeeeeee just what we want????

We all enjoy playing cricket so lets get more games in not less, i would rather have 11 sides in each grade play them all in 40/40 games twice a year both home and away.

imagine the luxury of fitting in almost 20 knocks or for the bowlers 20 innings with the new ball??????

That would be brilliant.

Will never happen though

I'm here Merl, certainly will support your comments regarding the 10 team aspect. Innovation is something that the boys in the big office are afraid of, and as we have seen, not allot has happend in our game over the years.
It was a great final in longy and congrats to the gold caps, we are all envious, but some are afraid to admit it.
I for one was empressed with the way the kept the pressure on the machine in the field, but a little less impressed with some of their crowd control efforts.
It takes a brave may to deliberately kick a football into the back of a Mackie supporters head, even if he was baited, some of the kids in the area were a bit surprised as well.
Good to see BMF doing well with bat at the end, bad luck to the Machine it was a great season.

Merl - Biggie was stiff to miss out on Harry, but there wouldn't be too much of an argument as Cheeks was a worthy winner. Biggie would've celebrated with his standard 6 pack of XXXX Golds and a bit of "table tennis" perhaps??
Burger's feats at the poker table may have been emulated on the weekend with not much required of him, but you seem to forget he's been there once before with the Panthers in his 2 year stint.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Merlot,
Let's for argument sake say that the Juggernaut, or Omega, the Hoops,Uniting or ANA dominate the Woolnough competition when this new system comes into play.Where does that leave the team that finishes 10th? They will be saved from relegation and possibly weakening the competition. Do we then go to 8 teams? The Golfers and the Spiders have got on the front foot and started searching for some proven experience so it will be interesting next season as some of these clubs which have been struggling are now upping the ante. Already rumours circulating that West Bentleigh are renewing their interest in a player they nearly nabbed in the pre season. Also very strong rumours that a current playing coach may be returning to the fold at Uniting and that a former team mate of his could become an opponent when he returns to the fold at the Juggernaut. Finally a current Hoop could be heading back to his spiritual home.Again these are rumours only and I am sure there will be more to follow.

re the crowd control.. i assume that you are referring to the incident that happened in the semi a couple of weeks earlier.

"baited" is a slight understatement i think. the mackie supporter (who is supposedly on their committee? the guy who tried to get his way on the board at richmond.. can anyone shed some light on who he is?) walked past the esbc crowd shouting "scum" numerous times and then telling the crowd that "we will slash your throats", while incorporating a strange slashing motion with his arm.. i thought that he was mentally unwell, and the crowd were in shock as there had been no serious issues during the day between the two teams' supporters.

I think that the kids may have been a bit more surprised at this "baiting" rather than the person who (did not "KICK the ball into his HEAD") threw the ball which hit him in his body. and i was there in close proximity, so i saw everything that happened.

I think wed all agree that this clown probably deserved more than a football to the body for his disgraceful behaviour. you wonder why fights start at sporting events, its because of people like this.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Indeed the above is a more factual account of what happened. Not to mention in the presence of ladies as well. I find it interesting that this has come up after the Grand Final and not after the Semi Final (when it happened) of which they won.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

So now that season has been finished, ESBC win again. (Well Done)

What are some changes to different teams?
Will captains change?

What club will be the big mover next year? or will it stay with the same teams pushing for the flag?

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

The Harry Morgan medallist from the weekend has said he's calling it quits, but I suspect come October he'll get the itch and suit up again.
Clocker might be inferring that Ivan is heading back to the Brick and that the New Wallet Park are chasing after Clement again. Hard to know what to read into it and still way too early to speculate.
In Woolnough news HWCC are likely to lose the services of its best cricketer who is being lured interstate or overseas. Either way he's decided he won't continue as captain, but will remain with the club if these other plans fall through.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

To get the important business out of the way below is the draft results of the Santa Claus Finals tipping contest provisionally won by my good friend Archie.

I have found no record of Clocker,Jimmy or Ordinary Bloke submitting Grand Finals selections but stand to be corrected if they are hidden on the BCF and I have missed them.

Vinnie,Jimmy and the rest of you lot feast your eyes on my new avatar that the Grandson help the old fella computerise. The Merlot Horlicks trophy is even better in the flesh and if Jimmy or Vinnie ever reply they will get their hands on it.

2010 Santa Claus Finals Tipping Contest
1st & 2nd Prelim Grand
Semis total
1 Archie 14 7 7 28
2 Bottsy 16 6 3 25
2 UM 12 5 8 25
4 Merl 14 4 6 24
4 Sugar 11 7 6 24

6 Jimmy 13 7 0 20
7 Ord Bloke 11 4 0 15
7 Clock 10 5 0 15
9 Golf 0 6 8 14

Poor old Bottsy had the title sown up but both on and off the field he bombed out with a very disappointing end to the season.

Thanks to all my loyal followers who don't care who I am but just enjoy a bit of banter, I have enjoyed running the BTC and the SCFTC for your enjoyment.
Merl's not much of a tipster but managed a final 4 possy in both comps and a suitable christmas decoration trophy will be commissioned and will no doubt end up as Archie's avatar

As I have a bit of time on my hands after sorting out a few things I will reply to some of the Johnny come latelys in my next post.

until next time...keep searching....... vino sipping poster......Prof Merlot
