Afternoon All,

A dreary melb Sunday arvo with not a lot happening.

Sponge Bob you need to draw your attention away from the youtube production studio and tune into Jimmy's radio program where amongst other things trees are green told us that pink balls will be trial in some 20/20 matches.This week trees also advised us that a match summary had been sent out to all clubs.I know trees hasn't been on Congress for long but get into the twenty century mode and stick something on the website.Apart from the ever reliable John Halliday (I presume ) the Billionaires score is the only one listed in the results fixture.Another joke is that the month is listed as October but just to let you know we are in November and Hiliary I know you visit the site occassionally get your and the website's act together.
Our Barrack and the real Barrack have the same low popularity and performance rating as Big Red and I am not talking about Phar Lap!!!

Sponge & Sledge

Get real, bowling machines would be in at at least 5 or 7 out of 10 clubs these days and are a necessary coaching tool that all the good coaches use although Dexter at the pretenders would need to lift his game given the pretenders form of late.

The mentalist may find it difficult to get into the Royal Parklands this Wednesday night with a bumper crowd expected after the judge gave the ommies a good old spray on the you tube show.

I agree a one day season would be a propgressive most sensible idea but sorry progressive is not a word you would hear at Congress as if Barrack didn't think of it it doesn't happen!!!They still use a sun dial to tell the time!!!!

While we can't get scores updated on any sort of regular basis,or even a summary of the hit and bash weds nights Hiliary did find time to inform clubs that when the poor old BBQ's turn up to the ground that most of Melbourne know wasn't going to happen please give them $20 beer money for the trouble.Most progressive competitions have a wet weather committee who look at the situation and call all matches off sometime Saturday morning so people can organise other things to do.

I see Slim's mob won the battle at the Royal King George Collesium and not doubt the judge was there to observe the non rating ommies give his court jesters a walloping.should be an interesting session on you tube next time with the judge's revised rating of the bricker boys!!!Maybe Sponge Bob could make a guest appearance and I know he could help you two drink those beers!!

The Billionaires continued in cruise mode with the silent child contributing just a single digit.Backman turner over drive no doubt a band Jimmy would be familiar with got runs and wickets and a run out to no doubt pick up man of the match honours.It also looks like the Manakis brothers who are regular visitors to the BCF are just twos players these days!!!Our very own B managed a Bo Derek when the side needed a few more.

Merl's own Chelsea Heights came into the real world against the tipless Brude's mob who cleaned heighters up and gave them a reality check on their possible march to longy in future.

If Barrack and Hiliary could ask the clubs nicely to put up the scores by let's say 10 am Thursday maybe the cricketing public would know who won etc!!!

Parker a lot of effort for just one change of tip as you are sticking with the one day specialists.

Have a chat to your President. I rang him on Tuesday night and he didn't seem too keen on the idea of our E grade game being a one day match in the last round before Xmas (Dec 12-19). He was saying something about the CMCA allowing them to decide what they want to do when all we want is to move it to a one day game on the first week so that the boys aren't playing on Dec 19. I'd imagine most clubs will have a Xmas function around this time and we're in that boat. It would be a shame if our E grade players weren't able to "get festive" because they have a game the following day.

Bad day for ANA... the senior players that were under the Judge's microscope stepped up in McGaw & Malane, and gave us a nice old middle finger.

Unless you have the best bats facing the best bowlers you will not improve, a machine mearly gives you another very good aide to utilise.

All very relevant Mentalist...
We've make it a priority to have the best bats face the best bowling - great way to improve! and yes that is difficult to manage. We have a machine that gets used sparingly as we coordinate training with the above 'theory' in mind. If any day it comes out it would be the Tuesday night when not as many turn up.
I never said they were a bad thing, and found it an interesting read on the Chappell side of the coin.. I don't mind facing the bowling machine at all, or for that matter throwing 100+ balls at others as another valuable aid in training. I'm sure most clubs have some guys that can conduct some pretty useful throw downs.
IMHO bowling machines serve their purpose, but aren't the be all and end all. Cant remember seeing one at District/Premier cricket training (perhaps pre-season??) - or maybe that was just too many years ago! :D

Guest appearance! hmmm... not sure what 'Bob' you're referring to here ol Merl! this Bob's too busy playing cricket and serving too many Krabby patties to be interested in watching games at King George or partaking in any you tube cricket shows!!!:p
 
The Lepage Park vs Chelsea Heights game was played in good spirits and a good atmosphere from the Panthers D.J. spinning some tunes!

Chelsea won the tossed and batted.
After 3 overs they were 0/27 and the openers looked in good touch.
Steve McConchie was brought into the attack and took 2 wickets in one over. This stopped the flow of runs and the Chelsea boys struggled to find any decent partnerships. They managed 8/103 of their 20 overs. Brad Lockhart was the best of the bats with 30-odd.
Steve Mconchie was the best bowler for the Panthers with 4/24. Michael Deiacovo also bowled well with 2/11 from 3 overs.
In the chase Le Page started well with an opening stand of 60. Rod Douthie made 46 of them with some powerful blows.
The Panthers passed the target with 5 overs remaining at 3/109.
The white balls held up well and light wasn't a problem due to the early finish.
With Chelsea and Lepage Park on 1 win each, a win for the Panthers over Kingston Heath next week will see them qualify for the semi-finals.

Good to see Hiliary or trees are green have put a mini rocket under some clubs who have some how manage to give the cricketing public some scores from weds nights hit and bash.

McKinnon seemed to have turned up the heat and the old man alphabet is starting to get some runs with the highway pretenders!!
Covey managed both runs and wickets while the former beach boy Jules WC chimed in with a trifecta of wickets.

Looks like a good day for a bit of cricket and Merl will give the Beemer it's weekly wash and polish and unleash himself out to the subhurbs and may even try and get the former locasious child to loosen his lips and give us something.Maybe he is following in the foot steps of his beloved Saints coach and just giving us nothing!!

Nice to see one of the Ommies in Jarroyd Lyons following in his father's foot steps after being drafted to the Adelaide Crows where I am sure all on the BCF wish him best wishes for a long and successful career.

Merl - got a firsthand look at the billionaires benchwarmers and a couple of mighty impressive knocks had me thinking your good friend that's gone silent on the forum might struggle for his spot next week after another failure. Young Brisbane and McConville were a formidable partnership yesterday putting plenty of pressure on our bowlers and fieldsmen making calculated risks building a platform for Manakis C to come in and smack Uncle Mick for a couple of large ones in the last couple to add some cream to their already daunting total. As with last year when we chased 260 against the bowling was a bit of a concern with our openers getting us off to a flyer being 0/94 at drinks. They could only add a couple more before a giant collapse saw us out of contention a a few tailenders doing enough to keep them out there for the full 38 overs. I'm very confident in declaring their's is the best top 4 I've seen in Woolnough Shield in my time playing the grade. We weren't great with the ball, but their batting looked nothing short of Longmuir standard. It wasn't until late in the game that the risky shots were played and even then they were hitting them too well to give chances.

On the flip side Hampton Central's I Grade skipper officially goes down as the biggest f*ckwit in the CMCA. I've never been more incensed by an individual over a game of park cricket. There aren't enough colourful superlatives for me to describe a bloke who denies one of Woolnough players to subfield the final 10 overs of an I Grade match while we already have 2 girls out there subbing and a bloke with cerebral palsy. Who knew that I grade cricket was such a serious sport??
 
What a wonderful day Melbourne turned on yesterday for all the cricketers out there who have been deprived so unkindly in recent weeks, the missus gave me the day off yesterday as i quote 'have been so wonderful in proceeding weeks working and cleaning the house' thank you to Melbourne and it's rain has been keeping me inside on Saturday's allowing my better half to crack the whip on some house hold chores that needed to be done.

But with much pleasure the sun arrived and i was able to escape her strong hold and get down to watch a couple of games, wondered down to Chilsom reserve and witnessed ESBC put on a display with the bat that really should make other sides stand up and take note as they have not finished there chase for premiership glory yet. Though there was a coupe of chances put down Bennet and young Manders really put on a good partnership to push the total north and only Steve May threatened to keep the 2 blues in it but in the end the target was to much.
Also wondered down to Hurly to see Union demolish West bentleigh whose season has come to a crashing holt and appears all over as Union did it on a bit and chased down 85, not much to write home about.

Agree UM the child may have some nervous times ahead of him. 0, 24 & 7 in 4 games not a lot to hold his spot especially with Brisbane dominating and McConville on fire. But the Billionaires have been making changes every week at some point they may want a settled line up given they are 4-0 and sitting nicely!

Agree Uncle. A pi$$ poor effort by the HC skipper, especially considering the grade and already difficult circumstances confronting HW. Seems it was a big day for HC flogs as just down the road we were treated to another performance from a well known repeat offender. This time the HC skipper did a great job in trying to control that individual whose antics seem to have worn thin with his teammates, who did not condone or support his carry on. As UM said it is after all just park cricket.

On the flip side Hampton Central's I Grade skipper officially goes down as the biggest f*ckwit in the CMCA.

The I grade capt with the * next his name is one of the famous Hampton fruit shop family with many of them playing for the two blues.The FW de clerk in question has played at both the Hampton Central and the Highway pretenders at Longy level and is famous for his rolled up wrap around batting gloves.No stranger to the Bamjo either and it is some what surprising he is so serious as he has already pased the half century age bracket.Merl has played against him in a previous life!!

It appears you are ruled by the petti coat government and have to bow and scrap to get a day out on the boundary line.Get some bouncing things young man!!!

The Bilionaire Uniting leader from the Eureka stockade had to dispense with the sore back theory, has he had to pull out all stops to over come Peter Parker's shock selection mob and his 83 and 3 for 18 did the trick but it also showed the cricketing public that the spiders are there with a chance which will make parker happy just like Kirsten does for him!!The child must be dropped both due to lack of form and comment on the BCF.Remember when they gagged Shane Crawford it did nothing for his form and the child could be on his way back to Mordi creek or even the Maranatha mob!!


Should be a good youtube this week as Adam's mob overcame their mid week capitulation to stall the machine engine in an impressive display.

Still no improvement in the score publishing and many thanks to the Uncle Mick score service who even had to provide on air updates to Jimmy's radio show for the cricketing public to be vaguely informed of the results of games while every other league in Melbourne manages to get their scores in the Sunday papers!!!!

Tipping was pretty straight forward as Merl still looks down from the Rialto tower with his boundary like lead over the pack.3 Bo Dereks from Bottsy,Jimmy and the Mentalist have them hovering along with PDog and the petticoat boy Sledge.Even old clock is firing well but Vinnie is gone as he continues to tow the company line and pick his beloved Omega each week as the struggle to start the season.

Maybe the deep thinking Mentalist can help Merl solve a problem will the Gorozidis Pitt shield be played out in the Bluff Rd cup match now that the two fallen idols have slumped down to the twos?


The Wrap up from the other matches show that the cowboys are gone after the pretenders gave them a mother and father of a hiding,the machine needs jumper leads to restart their stalled engine,Beach Boys won as expected against a disappointing Bricker mob,while Le Page never let the Golfers out of the bunker.

In the Bluff Rd cup the diggers finally found some with a couple of our tipsters obviously in the know!!!
Bottsys mob did it with wheres Wally continuing his great form and Macca finally stoped celebrating the pies grand final win by getting some runs himself.Wallet Park would have enjoyed giving Tin can alley a good old hiding and the billionaire Uniting were far too good as Uncle Mick has already told us.The Pretender twos had the game day hat on to give traditional rivals Cluden a belting.Merl's own Chelsea Heights gave the purple & golds such a hiding they probably wish they had dropped down to Quiney Shiled.

You would think after missing a GF he would learn something.He really detracts from the Sky Blues who are a decent team to play against.He does their club no favors at all.
 
The word from my Van Dieman friend was that the Spiders clash with the Billionaires was one of the great games to see with Kev Periera and Josh Fisher providing a solid opening foundation with 101 from the first 16 overs before the Billionaires tightened up their act and only allowed 63 off the remaining 22.

The Billionaires biggest investment was very lucky to survive an adjacent appeal before he even got off the mark as the suprise selection of Mark Nutter McSwain seemingly had him trapped in front by all (apart from the important Sundries), but the Billionaires esteemed leader made the most of his luck and steered his team home with two balls to spare and you can't ask for more than that.

Unfortunately the luck wasn't recipricated with the Spider's english friend as he was given lb whilst sweeping a long way down the track, but that, as they say, is cricket. And don't we love it! The billionaires delightful send off for him "Go collect your cash now Pom" would have to scream straight to the top of the funniest hypocritical send off's for the season and would be the white hot favourite to remain there!! Sometimes you just have to laugh!

What is happening to the Machine this season? Is there a Spanner in the works or are they just taking their time getting their act into gear??

As for my tips Merl . . . so close, but yet, so far! As I mentioned earlier, I think I'll just enjoy the ride rather than the destination, which brings Kirsten to mind . . . ah, please excuse me . . .
