Competition Format

The old competition was 12 one dayers and 6 test matches in the regular season then a finals series. Was there a reason for double the one dayers?

I'd like to see 12 one dayers, 12 tests and then the top two sides one day sides play each other in a finals series with 3 legs and the top two test sides have a grand final.

Any other thoughts/suggestions?

EDIT: Just looking through thread from the previous comp, what was the SuperLiga?

Re: Competition Format

Not sure, can't remember the reasoning why we had more one-dayers than tests.

I'd be in favour of having an equal amount of tests and one-dayers, 12 sounds like a good number. Finals format would be a 2vs3 preliminary final and the winner play 1st in the GF or just the top two play off in a Grand Final.

SuperLiga was a Champions League type thing, top two teams from our comp would play in a tournament against the top two teams from the Australian domestic competition and also the English county system. It was very, very similar to the the suggested tournament involving the two best Twenty20 sides from the Australian, English and South African domestic competitions as well as the Indian Premier League.

We also need a name for this competition.

Re: Competition Format

Almost all comps other then BF have more OD's then Tests. It's an effort to reflect what happens in reality. Superliga IMO was a waste of time.

I like the idea of 2 vs 3 then the winner in a Grand Final but would they just be single games or a series of 3?

Did it work well and would it be worth doing it again?

We also need a name for this competition.

Isn't it just going to be called the BigCricket Fantasy Cricket League or are we going for a different name?

In the previous competition, the one-dayers was a best-of-3 thing. Not sure about the others, but I prefer a single Grand Final.

No, it wasn't that great to be honest.

Yeah, if everyone's happy with that. Or if we want a different name then we could hear some suggestions.

If everyone's happy with that, then that is what it will be. @|

Re: Competition Format

What they've said.

Also, the SuperLiga wasn't that great, it didn't create any interest (except the team playing) and even then, it wasn't that great.

I like the 12 one dayers (2 home games and 2 away games) and the 6 Test (1 home and 1 away game) format. I think for such a small comp, it'll work well. :thumbsu:

Top 3 make finals in both formats

One day finals should consist of 2nd vs. 3rd in a 3-game series (2nd gets two home games and 1 away game) then the winner playing the top team in a ONE-Game grand final.

For the Tests, I believe they should both be single matches, same format as above.

One Dayers: Preliminary Final/Semi Final (what it's labelled as doesn't matter)

Game 1: Team 2 vs. Team 3 @ Team 2
Game 2: Team 3 vs. Team 2 @ Team 3
Game 3 (if needed): Team 2 vs. Team @ Team 2

Grand Final: Team 1 vs. Winner Team 2 or 3 @ Team 1

Tests: Prelim/Semi

Team 2 vs. Team 3 @ Team 2

Grand Final: Team 1 vs. Team 2 or 3 @ Team 1
