Well footy is nearly over ( local ) and teams should have stepped up training by now. Noticed that Dixon and Elloitt have gone to Albury. Any other movements going on. New City have lost the mantle of Dad's Army that will go to Tallangatta this year.
Was discussing the old ABCA V WDCA before the merger the other day with some very interesting people. Since the merger a few things have happened . The standard in both has dropped. Players dropping to District and playing well. Alot more cricket is being played and clubs struggling for numbers. The last point is a strange one considering that a few clubs have folded or merged in the last 10 years . Imports seem to be a thing of the past. Except Mt Beauty. And if they do get one he doesn't sit the comp on fire ie: Kelvin Williams, Lambert and Hayden Richmond in finals . So any ideas on what the comp should do ???
Just an opinion on the comp - perhaps should look at making it divisional and doing away with the old ABCA and WDCA set up. ie- Prov A is Div 1, Prov B is Div 2, or Dist A is Div 2, Div 3, 4, 5 and maybe a one day Div 6 comp that doesnt have promotion/relegation. I know there might be an issue with 2 teams from the same club making the same grade but I'm sure something could be put in place to take into account situations like this. Its good to see Eskdale are getting an A grade together this season, interesting to see how District is put together with the bye. IMO, each team plays each other once (8 games) and have the District Finals a week before the Prov - just a thought. And have Mt Beauty got another couple of imports this season? Just something I heard around the traps.
CAW should have a look at some melbourne base comps. Most of them have a divisional set up. When it comes to two teams in the same grade it does work. Some clubs have had two teams in C'grade for many years. Belvoir , Lavi and East Albury for example. You just put in the rules where a player can't jump from side to side . Once he ( or she ) has played 5 games they must stay in that side. Who's to say it won't work CAW ??
Great to Eskdale up and running. Maybe they should play A'Grade home games at Baranduda that way it will turf and only leave Barny on carpet !!!!!
What is the limit of internationals ( imports ) these days?? Mt Beauty always do a great job of getting them .
Hey guys,
Been following the thread for a while now, some great discussions happening.
What are everyones thoughts of the upcoming season? who will win the flag in both Provincial & District? who will get relegated?
Lavington and Wod Raiders to win flags- if relegation is still two teams with none going up, maybe Dederang and New City?
Hope we get more cricket this season and not a wet one like last year!
can confirm that. Whitefield had a workplace accident where he was chopping wood and a bit flicked into his eye so he won't be available
My mail has Dederang making a big play for a former Premiership coachthat's no good, im sure he would have done a terrific job with the young team dederang will have. any word on his replacement?
Andy Norling? My mail has Dederang making a big play for a former Premiership coach
You picked it in 1 go RS.Andy Norling?
A closer source again. You picked it in 1 go RS.
Have you also heard this on the grapevine or are you from Dederang?
Is michael booth captain of albury his year?
Sure is.......cant bat, 2nd grade bowler....yet plays rep cricket and is good enough to capt Albury and take them to relegation for the 2012-2013 season....then again could turn the club around and make them competitive......good luck to him, even though he is a pies supporter
So has Marmo gone back to North?
