Cricket Revolution - A new online multiplayer cricket game

A new online multiplayer cricket game called Cricket Revolution is under development. It has been slated for release in 2008.

yeah ive been to that site. the graphics look quite good to me. hopefully the gameplay will be good too. are there any videos??

Indeed, the graphics are quite impressive. The feature list is quite impressive too. I'm looking forward to this game. Especially after the pathetic cricket games that EA and Codemasters produced last year.

Considering the quality of video games that are developed these days, those games were pretty poor. If you have played it for a considerable amount of time, you'll notice that both EA's and Codemaster's games have far too many bugs.

ricky ponting 05 is the same for pc and ps2. i love the hawkeye but the gameplay is not so good.

Does it look to you like they have brought the source code off Codemasters? As they're developing a new game but through a company it wouldnt suprise me if they have sold the source code.

Looks like it has potential, but its an unknown company and I'll reserve any judgement until I play it.

Made by some shrewd people certainly. They have added a 'What is Cricket Revolution?' section where they have coined ideas from the suggestions to make it as appealing as possible. For example, I suggested the 'fun factor' and lo and behold:

All of the features, tweaks and add-ons in Cricket Revolution are based on enhancing gameplay and the fun factor.

The game is certainly not a simulation game as the features seem to suggest a classical video game with unlockables and the like. I will reserve judgement till more news comes out though.

This all looks good. '500 motion captured moves' seems like a lot to me but I have no figures of comparison. The intention seems to be to mainstream the casual cricket market which has been dominated by Stick Cricket.

They do seem to have bought the Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 graphics and altered them somewhat. The problem, in my opinion is the shapes of the players. Ridiculously skinny bodies are an example.

At the moment, the more I read into it, the more I'm getting a negative slant.

I hope it turns out great but I really can't see it.

Simulation is not necessarily a key to a successful cricket game, even for the most hardcore cricket gamer, though. For example, I am sure that Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 would have been far more of a hit with fans, were it not for the ridiculous scoring rate, poor AI and other bugs which had little to do with the intention of the game.

I agree with you but it's a fine line as you mention with BLIC. One thing they may have in their favour is the willingness to listen to users which may mean that this project does come off with an element of success.

I doubt they've brought the source code or anything from Codemasters because Codemasters hasn't abandoned their Cricket franchise. But the graphics look pretty similar so I could be wrong.

I'm kinda shocked that this game has actually appeared to have been made.

Looks ok from the previews but I still need to play it.
