Nah he went to Perth and had a crack down there for a couple of years. Then went across to England but haven't heard from him for years. Useful cricketer!

2001. B. Sleeth (D Kulmar got the Ralph)
2000. K. Vowles (also Ralph Wiese)

I'm Pretty sure Redders won it a couple of times in the late 90's as well, along with Scott Moody and Shane Oliver from Village.

While we are on quiz questions, who has scored the most runs in a season in the last 15 years?

I will say Ritchie Robinson in 93/94. Made a double ton in the GF also.

Moods actually got 92 not out and 8 wickets in that final v Nightcliff. I remember we dropped about 8 catches that day.

Piercy actually missed that game due to rocking up to the game late. Very funny story, he got there 30 minutes late and our then scorer wrote down our tem sheet with all the players who were out there warming up. Brendan Sharp was helping us do the warm ups, and inadvertantly was added to the team sheet. I can't remember who was skipper of Nightcliff but when we told them of the mistake after the toss they basically said tough luck. So poor old Piercy missed the game after playing and doing quite well for us all year!!

You also missed Stu Johnstone and Tim Bant, and Richardson didn't play...

Fairly sure Wayne Saunderson was captian of Nightcliff back then.

That was when teams could bat on for as long as they wished making the minor premiers massive favorites. Most of those runs TV scored occured on the second day (1st hour) and ensured N/cliff had a very high run rate when 200 - 250 were competitive totals.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

NT Strike 311 & 220 defeated Maharashtra 333 & 192 in the three day match.

The match was played under the future's league rules, both sides having a 143 overs to bat, with declaration compulsory at the 90 overs in the first innings. Maharashtra were set 199, with 57 overs to bat and went from 6 for 170 odd to all out for 192. Excellent win for the NT side after being 5 for 58 overnight heading into the last day.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Round 12 - Saturday 31st July & 7th August
Palmerston v BYE
Southern Districts 231 defeated by Darwin 287 & 5 for 177 - Fred's Pass
Nightcliff 9 for 218 & 4 for 173 defeated PINT 154 & 3 for 256 - Nightcliff Oval
Tracy Village 9 for 511 defeated Waratah 271 - Tracy Village Oval

Tons to Cachopa (TV), Crowe (TV), Manou (PINT), Lavers (PINT) and five wicket bag to Meta (Darwin) and Lawrence (Tahs).

Dynamic duo halt Nightcliff | Northern Territory News | Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia | ntnews.com.au

Nightcliff & Tracy Village have sealed their finals berth and shouldn't finish any lower than 1 & 2. Darwin & Palmerston are still no certainties to remain in the four as PINT can still threaten with two wins and possible outright chance. While Districts are mathematical possibilities, they'll need to win their last two matches and hope that Palmerston or Darwin both get rolled.

Unlikely to see the final four change from here, but there are a lot of runs being scored with 20+ centuries in the A grade this season. Simon Lavers would have to be favourite to take out the Ralph Wiese & Player of the Year medals.

Team - Played - Win - Loss - Draw - Points - - Teams to play
1. Nightcliff - 11 - 7 - 4 - 0 - 72 - - Bye & Palmerston
2. Tracy Village - 10 - 8 - 2 - 0 - 66 - - Darwin & Districts
3. Darwin - 11 - 6 - 5 - 0 - 63 - - TV & Bye
4. Palmerston - 10 - 6- 4 - 0 - 51 - - Tahs & Nightcliff
-------------------------------------
5. PINT - 10 - 4 - 5 - 1 - 45 - - Districts & Tahs
6. Souther Districts - 10 - 3 - 5 - 1 - 41 - - PINT & TV
7. Waratah - 10 - 1 - 9 - 0 - 22 - - Palmerston & PINT
*Points not confirmed.

Yeah think we were 4-240 at the end of day 1 and made another 100 odd in the first hour of day 2. I must admit that rule was crap, and gave the minor premiers a ridiculous advantage batting first. It meant the team batting first had 105 overs compared to the chasing team who only had 75 overs.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Round 13 - Saturday 14th & 21st August
3.00 Darwin v 1.45 Tracy Village - Kahlin Oval
11.00 Waratah v 1.09 Palmerston - Kormilda College
1.80 PINT v 2.20 Southern Districts - Marrara
Nightcliff v BYE

Darwin still need a win to assure themselves of finals while Tracy Village can take top spot with a win. It should be a good test for both teams and there is every chance of meeting up in the first final. TV after posting 300+ four games on the trot maybe due for a failure.

PINT, Southern Districts and to an extent Darwin, will be looking for Waratah to cause an upset against Palmerston. Palmerston's form in the two day format has been woeful losing their last three. They need a big win here to get back on track. Palmerston should pick up the pieces this round.

PINT and Districts need to win this to have any real chance of progressing through to the finals. PINT could still pull it off with a last round outright thrashing off Tahs, but they would also be relying on other results. Districts finish with TV in their last match, it will be just as difficult a task. Can see the Crocs winning this one.

To Win the Flag
Tracy Village - 2.25
Nightcliff - 3.30
Palmerston - 6.50
Darwin - 12.00
PINT - 51.00
Southern Districts - 1001.00
Waratah

"TV maybe due for a failure".... Come on Jack, maybe due for 600 too after scores of 400+ and 500+ in the last two outings! You're not trying some mind games already are you? Should be a great game as you seem to be in a bit of form and Turk owes us a few runs to take my money!

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

I think PINT may be a better chance and the only likely team to make the 4 who are not there yet. To play 6th and 7th and nothing to loose.

Alot of bonus points get handed out in the final two rounds and they will risk defeat to get there. They picked up 4.1 batting points and 2.6 bowling last round and if they repeat similar returns (6-7pts) with wins to boot, they will be in.

This is assuming Darwin loose to TV which given recent results, is likely and they have the last round bye which is a real handicap.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

I think Palmerston is the bigger chance to get knocked out. Even though they have Chatto and Williams back in, they have to win both as well to guarantee themselves a spot. Moffat is out for Districts. Basically need Tahs to take up a day batting in each game to minimise the amount of points Palmerston and PINT can pick up.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

I can't remember a more interesting lead up to the finals for a fair while. Even TV and NC could mathematically crash out of the four and PINT always make a late run with usually great effect. We'll know a lot more after this round I guess...

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Round 13 - Saturday 14th & 21st August
Darwin - 4 for 35 v Tracy Village - 341 - Kahlin Oval
Waratah - 220 v Palmerston - none for 62 - Kormilda College
PINT 298 v Southern Districts - none for 11 - Marrara
Nightcliff v BYE

Ton to Nick Berry (PINT).

Darwin had a bad day in the field, Waratah collapsed as per usual and Districts let PINT off the hook.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Rumour has it that DT bowled 38 overs from one end for TV in the B's, when do you think this "junior" will be ready to play A grade cricket?
