My tip would be the 2 Richmonds, both towards the bottom of their respective ladders, both don't have the best of facilities, unsure about their financial states but I doubt they'd be swimming in cash and it would give them 6 turf teams. No other Dunstan/A turf combo makes much sense.

6 turf teams is probably a bit much, imagine the ground keeping fees paid to the council!
 
This seemed to be the consensus of the Team of the Year at the end of December: Who will be the changes?

Ellis
Parsons
Skermer
Hargraves
Tongue

M Thompson

Miles

My team would do something like this (and I haven't given it much thought, just off Mycricket)

Hargreaves
Abel
Tongue
Armstrong
Tsonis
Davidson
Liddle/Miles???

Few hard one's to pick. Ellis had one big innings and that was about it, Leigh hasn't played a lot of games, but has been class. Tonguey has been hiding at 6 and not taking wickets. The only easy picks seem to be Hargreaves and Thompson, who have both had very good years for old guys. Thoughts?

True, but at least 3 of those 6 will be relegated this year therefore a combined club may drop 2 of them and go Dunstan, B, C, D.

Whatever happens, it can only be good for the competition if it is strengthening the quality of cricket being played below Dunstan level.

you would think that 3 or 4 turf teams is enough, where are richmonds other turf grounds, obviously city are at KB oval and union are on church st there

Yarra Bend. Sounds like a logical merger...Rich City are much more successful and would basically just take over Union in this case and use Citizens for 3s and 4s.

Hmmm I've been doing a bit more on this and it's a lot harder than I first thought.

Thommo, I think, picks himself. He's had a very consistent season. Ellis one big score and then a lot of 30's - 40's, McDermott, no, not on the back of one innings (but same as Ellis then), Aldons has been good all year, Tonguey is hiding in the middle order, like Steve Waugh, Lawton is a good player but has lacked a bit of consistency, Wrighty hasn't made any recently, I don't think and Leigh hasn't played many games, but, as I said earlier, he's been great in the games he's played.

The problem is that you have the two guys from Bulleen, Galpin and Tsonis, who are gone for no runs and have awesome averages; but they haven't taken as many wickets. I have no idea how to judge it all. It seems to me that Abel and Hargreaves are the easy selections from the bowling, but they're both all rounders. Armstrong is a standout for the keeping position. Then you have Mackintosh (hard to pick him when he plays at City every 2nd week with a slow outfield and rubbish wicket), Miles, Liddle, Davidson and Mullen. Hard to make a case for anyone below this, other than the two Bulleen guys.
