Eca 2011/2012

still on the pace, happy with that.

any more reports other than the bulleen vs marcellin game?

The Deepdene/Skevs game went right down to the wire. Play started at about 2ish with Deepdene needing 200 (on their small ground) for the win. Skevs fought hard all day and had Deepdene 4-down at one stage. Without taking any more wickets, they tried their best to restrict Deepdene short of the total with rain on the way, but a match winning innings from Steel (91) won them the game with a couple of crunching boundies minutes before the rain came through at about 5:30!

The game was fiesty throughout with a few words exchanged by players and supporters but all round played in good spirits and beers enjoyed after the game.

Maybe the Bulleen boys should take a leaf out this book... There was plenty going on between the sides with both teams doing whatever they had to tactically to give themselves the best result, but there was always respect for the game and the opposition and what happened on the field stayed on the field and the better team won on the day.

whos Steel? never heard of him. not surprising to hear a few words exchanged in that game! with supporters also....

I do not want to start an umpire bashing conversation. I know people did not like the Mailman as an umpire but I thought he was good. Never sucked up and was one of the best sledgers. I hear he has gone to District cricket.

Hey Boomer.......

We bowled 52 overs at you, so how do you get 50 ???? If it hadnt of rained we would of bowled 60 !!!!!!

The pitch was a road !!!!! so dont make out as if you were hard done by.

By the way...... Yes we started bowling bouncers at you towards the end of play..... We had pitched it up all day
and given you plenty of chances to hit the ball but your batters just kept blocking or leaving it. So why not try bouncing instead...... It still is a part of the game.

Ohhhhh you had guys away...... Big deal, so did we buddy, Judd, Porter and Roberts but thats cricket and you rely on the depth of the club...... Maybe you dont have much behind your 11.

We had 4 guys under 18, 2 under 26 ...... so who cares about age, 3 of them had never played Dunstan before.

And get your facts right...... Noone is paid at Bulleen, it actually makes me laugh when people assume we're paying 1/2 our team. Did it ever occur to you that Spud, Judd, Tuckett, Porter and Tsonis all played together back in the day, and all have young families and just want to play some cricket together. I bet you wouldnt cry if they were in your own team.

Dunstan GF last year....... At least we had a go and showed some ticker ! We didnt go out there and block from ball 1 for the whole entire game.

Big call about Bulleen on the slide........ Lets see who finishes higher on the ladder at the end of the season dopey !
Remember it's round 2 !!!!!! Long way to go !!!!
tough call to ask young blokes to go for a win against an experienced side. it would be frustrating and annoying all day but was there a chance to only set them 200 or even 180 and get them playing shots? surely you could have rolled through them then.

Gone to umpire subbies I believe

Sorry bouncer I am with the other lads. When there is rain about it is up to the bowling team to dismiss the opposition. (Like Mulgrave did to us - but that is another story) Whining about them not handing you points on a platter is indeed pathetic.
TA, you obviously are a City lad.. what were the conditions like out there? rain didn't come fast enough? did mulgtrave bowl well or you lads play bad?
anyone know about the ashy game? rain set in early?

some interesting results also in A Turf, Tooronga chasing down 240 odd after being 6/ 70 and Glen Iris 2's beating Donvale, not a good look for Donvale I would think.

Im with you boomer, its disappointing to see teams go into there shell from the outset, at least have a crack early and see what happens then if a few wickets are lost put the cue in the rack, a few earlier bouncers should have gone there way by the sounds of it.

Long season ahead you never know could meet them in the finals, i would definately like to watch that game

Outfield was very slow with all the early rain but pitch was good. Mulgrave bowled quite well and caught all their catches. We batted poorly and have no excuses. We were confident of getting the runs but weren't up to it on the day. Well done Mulgrave.

thanks TA. its refreshing to hear a team admit they were outplayed. usually there are so many excuses. maybe take a leaf out of this book bouncer? just weren't up to it on the day.

Who would have thought that after round 2, 3 of last years top 4 are at the foot of the ladder without a win?

Especially considering only Mont Albert has played a top side from last year?

Early tips for this weekend?

GI v St Kevs - GI at home
Marc v Ashy - Ashy, but not confident
Mulg v Boronia - Mulg
MA v Deep - tough, tough, tough. Maybe MA at home, but Deep going well
Bull v Haw - Haw - hope Haw don't shut up shop, Boomer might do an O Ring
RC v ED - hmmm prob ED. Sorry TA

Yes agreed, definitely some interesting cricket to be had. My tips are as follows:

Glen Iris v St Kevs : Although only 2 draws GI's seem to be travelling well and must back them at home. Their Pom looks strong.
Marcellin vs Ashburton : I expect the Ashy boys to come bouncing back.
Mulgrave vs Boronia : Mulgrave at home, Boronia might give a little scare though
MA vs Deepdene : Deepdene travelling too well especially with PArsons in a rich vein of form
Bulleen vs Hawthorn : Bulleen at home just. Hawthorn definitely stronger this year
RC v ED : RC to recover from last week at home

Suffice to say, it looks like this season is going to be a cracker. For the first time in a long time, anybody can beat anybody on their day!!!

Geez! You're in early... It's only Tuesday for god's sake! My tips:
Glen Iris v St Kevs : Been a bit in these games over the last couple of years! Skevs to hold their nerve in a tight one.
Marcellin vs Ashburton : The class at Ashy has to come good eventually.
Mulgrave vs Boronia : Good on Boronia on their win last week, but much tougher against Mulgrave.
Mont Albert vs Deepdene : Backing the Bears guns to fire again. Could be in trouble if they dont...
Bulleen vs Hawthorn : Would love Haw to win after Boomers rant, but have to tip Bulleen here
Richmond City v East Donny : Sorry Terry! Prove me wrong!

I wouldn't be surprised if there is no play, or rain effected game this weekend. Stumpy's tips:
Glen Iris v St Kevs : GI at home over Skevs. Gi will post a winning score that unless Fernon fires will be too much
Marcellin vs Ashburton : Ashy to bounce back and give the young team a flogging
Mulgrave vs Boronia : think it will be close and would like to say Bor, but not at Mulgrave. Too strong and have had a good start.
Mont Albert vs Deepdene : MA for sure..
Bulleen vs Hawthorn : depends if Porter/Judd are back. if so Bulleen, if not Haw.
Richmond City v East Donny : hard one. maybe RC to bounce back.

Glen Iris v St Kevs : GI too strong for the Skobbers
Marcellin vs Ashburton : AW out of sorts, but don't rate the kids from Marcellin in the same class.
Mulgrave vs Boronia : "Battle of the Bogans Part 2". Mulgrave.
Mont Albert vs Deepdene : Pretty confident here.
Bulleen vs Hawthorn : As above.
Richmond City v East Donny : No idea. Toss a coin. Heads. Richmond City.

Glen Iris v St Kevs : GI at home
Marcellin vs Ashburton : AW got to come good at some point
Mulgrave vs Boronia : Mulg playing good cricket
Mont Albert vs Deepdene : Have the form.
Bulleen vs Hawthorn : As above.
Richmond City v East Donny : We will bounce back at home.

Glen Iris v St Kevs : Upset with skevs batting to win it for them - fernon and crawford
Marcellin vs Ashburton : Bounce back with a big score - Richards for big score & Swift to bounce back from 1/94!
Mulgrave vs Boronia : Aldons for a big one
Mont Albert vs Deepdene : The bears too strong - Michelle for Hoare
Bulleen vs Hawthorn : Tongue will do what is needed as he did last week - 120odd* is some pretty solid form
Richmond City v East Donny : Laws & Andrews to fire with big scores and mackintosh to take 7

Glen Iris v St Kevins - I am backing an upset here, Fernon and Crawford to have a field day with the bat. Were very good last week and will surprise people this year
Marcellin v Ashburton - Surely Ashy can't lose 3 on the bounce
Mulgrave v Boronia - Mulgrave at home will be too good, Boronia will give them a good game though
Mont Albert v Deepdene - Deepdene will be too good here they have started the season well and their bowling attack will be too good for a under performing batting line up
Bulleen v Hawthorn - Bulleen at home, hopefully the tears have gone from the weekend.
Richmond City v East Doncaster - City at home will be too good here

Hopefully I consolidate my position at the top of the table ;)
