England in West Indies

Re: England in West Indies

What a finish, England batted well in the end, getting to 270. West Indies started badly, losing Gayle early but the rest chipped in and helped West Indies score at the required rate or thereabouts for most of the innings.

Denesh Ramdin got out on the second ball of the 47th over and with the light fading, the West Indies batters happily walked off the field thinking they were in front on Duckworth/Lewis calculations. Unfortunately, their coach John Dyson got the calculation wrong and were actually one run behind the par score when the players walked off.

Play didn't restart due to the light and England were the deemed the winner by one run.

England Innings 7/270 (50 overs)

Paul Collingwood 69 (77)
Owias Shah 62 (86)
Ravi Bopara 43 (62)
Matthew "Irongloves" Prior 26* (21)

Kieron Pollard 2/46 (8)
Dwayne Bravo 2/65 (10)

West Indies Innings 7/244 (46.2/46.2 overs)

Lendl Simmons 62 (105)
Ramnaresh Sarwan 57 (77)
Shivnarine Chanderpaul 46 (30)
Kieron Pollard 42 (36)

Stuart Broad 3/41 (9.2)
James Anderson 2/39 (8)

Result: England won by one runs via the Duckworth/Lewis Method.
Series: England lead five-match series 1-0
Man of the Match: Paul Collingwood

Re: England in West Indies

Game Two begins in 15 minutes. West Indies would be embarrased by such a bit muck-up in the first-game, they need to win this one to avoid going 2-0 down in the series.

West Indies XI: *Chris Gayle, Lendl Simmons, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, +Denesh Ramdin, 9 Nikita Miller, Lionel Baker, Fidel Edwards

England XI: *Andrew Strauss, Ravi Bopara, Kevin Pietersen, Owais Shah, Paul Collingwood, +Matt Prior, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Stuart Broad, Gareth Batty, Steve Harmison, James Anderson

West Indies won the toss and will bat first. They've brought in Lionel Baker for Daren Powell. England go in unchanged.

Re: England in West Indies

West Indies won game two by 21 runs.

Game three is underway and West Indies won the toss and bowled first. It's paid off dividends so far with England 3/41 in the 13th over. Fidel Edwards Claimed Strauss and Bopara early and Dwayne Bravo got Pietersen out hooking to the men in the deep with his first ball of the game.

England in trouble now, Shah on 16 and Collingwood on zero.

West Indies have gone in unchanged while England made one change with Flintoff coming in for Harmison. Max of 45 overs also due to the rain that helped delay the start.

Re: England in West Indies

England slip further, Shah hit a short and wide ball from Baker straight to Sammy at point and then Flintoff couldn't put away a short ball on leg stump and lofted it to a waiting Edwards at fine leg giving Bravo his second. Shah made 17, Flintoff a duck.

5/52 from 17 overs, England in massive trouble already. Collingwood and Prior both on five.

Re: England in West Indies

Bravo has three, a very full ball which swings in late and Collingwood can't get any bat on it, there's a big appeal and after a long look, Bucknor gives Colly out. That one was down the leg-side according to Hawkeye.

Anyway, Collingwood has to go for six and England are 6/55 in the 21st over. Mascanrenhas on one, Prior on six.

A lot of this pressure has been brought about by Lionel Baker who bowled nine overs for 21 runs, a spell that included five maidens. Brilliant bowling. The rest of the Windies line-up hasn't bowled anything superb but the English batters keep making mistakes. Shah was out to a nothing shot, Flintoff should have put his away for four and Pietersen couldn't resist the temptation.

Re: England in West Indies

Very poor from the Poms,

WI win with 8 wickets and 176 BALLS remaining, absolutely hammered.

Gayle made 80 from 40-odd balls.

Re: England in West Indies

A disaster.. mas cambios maybe you need to consider supporting another country??.. I can imagine how disappointed you are..

Re: England in West Indies

England smashed the West Indies in the 4th ODI winning by 9 wickets after rain threatened a washout they got on at the last possible minute leaving England with 135 runs to get off just 20 overs after the West Indies had earlier made 239/9 off their 50 overs

Strauss and Bopara doing the damage before Prior finished the job with the current skipper after the useless former captain injured his back trying to bowl and couldnt bat

West Indies 239/9 (50 overs)
Bravo 69 (72)
Gayle 46 (39)
Broad 3/62 (10)
Dimi 3/26 (10)

England 1/136 (18.3 overs)
Strauss 79* (61)
Bopara 35 (39)
Prior 14* (11)
