England vs Croatia

Re: Endgland vs Croatia

Who would want to manage England; in any sport?

The press thinks the country has a god given right to success despite having won very little over the years. It's time that we realised that we're a top 10 country, not a top 2.

Re: Endgland vs Croatia

We didn't finish near the bottom of our group ;) Why am i bothering making a comeback? Because theres more England comebacks rather than Wales :p

But we have a "right," to qualify for major tournaments Tom. Surely you can agree with that.

Of course we don't, no team has a right to qualify for any tournament.

They has been a lot of rubbish written about the England team over the last few days but the truth of the matter is that it's no one thing that led us to where we are now.

It was a combination of many things, some that could have been changed and others that couldn't, hopefully the FA will take their time, bring in the right manager and we can start again, afresh.

Re: England vs Croatia

England, in my opinion, should qualify for the big tournaments, i believe its a "right," that England have, not so much in an arrogent way, but the quality of our players should give us that right.

Look at this England team, i can only pick out 4 or 5 youngsters at this moment in time that could be dropped into the England team in 5-10 years time maybe.

Ben Foster (Goalkeeper for Manchester United)
Steven Taylor (Central Defender for Newcastle United)

And then i struggle to see anymore, of course theres 50/50 players who could, but i certainly believe that the next 10 years will be rocky for England, the FA need to have a look at grass roots because there isn't enough being done. Sport should be encouraged right from the first year a child hits school, so Reception in England, at the age of 4.

I could go on for days about this, but the quality of the youngster who will one day take over the riens in the England squad isn't good enough, i mena Wright Phillips is fairly young, obvious choice over Beckham, Rooney will be around, but the likes of Rio, Terry, Gerrard, Lampard etc. wont be around in 10 years time, the only other replacement for a player is Micah Richards who fits into G.Nevilles position well.

Re: England vs Croatia

I fail to see how it's a 'right'. We're expected to qualify, due to our history with the game and the perceived quality of the EPL, but look a bit deeper and you'll see that we really shouldn't think that.

I'm well down over this, really messed up next summer for me.

Was going over to the Euro's, bit of football and **** hunting.

I'd say that the citizens of Austria and Switzerland have had a lucky escape? ;)

Re: England vs Croatia

Just to agree with Austwick, no team has a right to anything, not even the mighty Brazil.

We should qualify for tournaments but bad luck happens. Maybe if we'd had the strongest XI out things would have been different?
