Highton Vs Thomson Match Report

Highton won the toss and decided to bat on what looked-like and was a very ordinary wicket.

K.Petterwood (3-21) and D.Riches (1-29) both got one each early, removing openers D.Holz (3) and A.Grant (3) before the score passed 15. L.Daffy (57) and B.Dodds (24) took the score to 2-25 off 26 overs at drinks. Some fine timing on the offside saw Dodds get to 24 before trying to repeat a pull shot to a ball that didn't get up from Adam "reigning McInerney/Fisher sheild winner" Wray (1-26). That wicket bought Gretgrix (55) to the crease and along with Daffy put on a 75 run partnership. Daffy bought up a fine half century before mistiming one of P.Featherston (1-32). Gretgrix continued on in his un-orthodox fashion only to get to 55 before being run out by from some quick glove work from C.Strods. The tail didn't wag as much as the Heat would have liked, mainly due to their need for quick runs at the end of the innings. The 85 overs were used up, Highton finishing 9/180.

Thomson came to bat after fridays rain unsure of the impact it would have on the wicket. J.McCoy (27) and C.Strods (18) started the Tigers off, with the score on 37 Highton Skipper L.Cameron (2-28) took a screamer at gully to remove McCoy from T.Fuller's (1-20) bowling, which in turn sent B.Smiljanic (74) to the wicket. Strods was content on plodding around whilst Smiljanic was more intent on hitting the ball to the boundary. Thomson went to tea in a pretty comfortable position of 2-110 off 38 overs. Strods got mixed up in a run-out (seems to be a pattern here) and was out for 18, this started somewhat of an umpire influenced collapse for Thomson. Smiljanic ran down the wicket and missed a straight one from S.Bone (1-51), Thomson 3-131. O'Neill (1) and Saltalamacchia (3) were given out dubiously caught behind off Cameron and all of a sudden the tigers were 5-134. Plant (23) and Bliss (12) saw the score to 161, Plant skying a L.Tamplin (1-3) delivery. Bliss was very lucky on a couple occasions with some dubious decisions from the umpire, the Heat would feel unlucky. K.Petterwood was in then out to some very smart swing bowling from L.Daffy (3-47) who also picked up Bliss who left an inswinging gem. Riches (6) and Wray (14*) saw the tigers get over the line, no thanks to once again the umpire as Wray was this time the beneficiary of his in-ability to understand the rules of cricket. Parkinson (1-32) bowled well without luck. In the end Thomson making hard work of what should have been a relatively easy task at 2-110.

Votes 3 B.Smiljanic 2 L.Daffy 1. K Gretgrix

No votes for Stinga Wray on the event of his highest first X1 score and winning runs?

heres a wrap up of the game
won the toss and batted first..rob and sean opened..22 off the first over..39 after 2 overs..was a very entertaining start..sean went out a bit after that and killer (rory fitzgerald carpentry), came in and after a shaky start joined the party and started hitting some nice strokes..rob made his 50, and got to about 65 and went out but got us off to a great start..so we were about 2/90 maybe and muzz went in..killer departed after a solid 30..muzz was playing everything along the ground and was looking great til his off peg was sent flying..we're hopin the addy got a good photo of it :D..so it was junior and toolie in..toolie was blocking it with 6 overs left in the game and 6 wickets in hand..junior was out after short stint at the crease..i enjoyed a bit of a promotion and went in next with toolie and 5 overs left..toolie went out in the last over and cj came in..and i went out last ball to give us a total of 7/199 off the 20 overs
muzz and cj opened the bowling..had em 3/5 or something..then a ponds bloke took to muzz a bit..standing off the wicket and swinging, connected with a few of em and most passed the line for 4..they never really looked like being in it, jay finished up with 4 fa and they were all out for 93 after 17 or 18 overs

sorry if anythings wrong..was just an account off the top of my head;)

With comments like these from the South spearhead, i think everyone would want to witness the Grovedale Vs South Barwon encounter.

We should lobby the GCA to play the match on a sunday so everyone can watch it ;)

The only problem, Mr Rissole, is that much like last year's Grand Final, when it comes down to it, Ando will probably deny saying it, and try to be friends.

Re: GCA & BPCA match previews and reviews

wasnt this the thread for match reviews and previews?? just throwen it out there lol. anyways match preview for NORTH GEELONG vs GEELONG CITY

Selected Sides:
North Geelong- s.hall, d.tielens, c.millard, a.armistead, a.clark, s.lymer, b.szponar, l.szponar, a.dragicevic, b.scown, s.kingwell
Geelong City- (from) s.lindsay, a.pitts, b.meagher, t.down, m.cherry, a.marsland, c.johnston, m.kennedy, k.agg, a.crellin, a.jarvis, m.chapman

Match Review: coming off there first win for the year last week against lara last week, Geelong City will be looking to continue there good form here with a second win against north geelong. lindsay, jarvis and pitts will be important with the bat and will look to tear into the inexpereicned north geelong bowling attack which has conceded over 200 runs each game this year. North geelong on the other hand will also be working hard to get there first win for the year after a disappointing loss last week against geelong west. sam hall and colin millard have had a disappointing year thus far with the bat and will be looking to score some runs, and brad scown has been in devastating form with the ball and will be looking to continue that.

Players to Watch: SAM HALL(north geelong)- hall has had a start in all but the first match of the year and will be looking to go on with that this week.

ADAM MARSLAND(geelong city)- marsland is widely credentialled as one of the quickest bowlers in the gca and is sure to give the north top order a bit of a shake up as they have prone to losing early wickets all year.

TIP: North Geelong because if I say City i could be accused of match fixing and i do think we are a chance this week.

also what do people think of my setout for the preview and im watching channel v2 and lady gaga is sooooooooooo hot

Agree with Lady Gaga and your tip Ants. The set up is good and probably should be used as a template for future ones
