Yeh thanks, if they do take it to the courts it will make for some interesting reading and it may make for some changes to the GCA committee instead of being for the so called RICH clubs.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

-Babb: Very over-rated cricketer. Talented junior, that's about it.
-Fergusson, Smiljanic, Murray. Mercenaries. Pointless to recruit them. You'd have them for one year then have to pay more to keep them the next year. No good for club balance.
-Fastest bowler in Geelong, Harper easily at his peak but as that is behind him now Blair Allen certainly right up there along with a fit Brett Anderton.

bit of jealously your club hasn't recruited them, yes indeed good players cost money but they are three of the best allround cricketers in geelong.

Far from jealousy, recruit these sorts of cricketers for one year if you are after immediate success but not really worth it in the long run. Agree good players cost a lot of money but weigh up the financial cost for the club versus the actual nett gain. Was it worth it for Torquay, Modewarre, Newcomb, etc, etc.? See no flags there. Don't doubt it that they are great cricketers, not great club people. What is more important? Hope for their new clubs sake, they can stick around and add to the club for a few years.

yer fair point mate but it does cost $$ to get the good players.
sounds as tho theyhave both committed to 2year deals which is good for those clubs involved, just have to c how it pans out.
why aren't they all playing at geelong or div 1 at worst?hmmmm:rolleyes:

you mustn't have a clue this aint the 80's a decent coach is around $5000 thats par.
$2,000 for smiljanic? your kidding he's only there for money, and thats the only reason. he would of laughed in there face, as for murray who knows st albans must be throwing a bit and like i said $5000s par for a decent coach.

Thommy ill give u a little heads up. Last year NDCC v Torquay at NDCC game delayed because of rain, some blokes playing cards some having a hit up in the rooms, some just relaxing. Smiljanic was sitting at the bar drinking pots an hour before the game started with NDCC supporters.
You can say what you want this is 100% truth i've been told by 7 of he's torquay team mates who played that day.
St Albans you's save yourselfs alot of money and heart ache.

i dont know clearing pickets but he has a hell of a better clue than you bringbackwarney. he is very close to the figures smiljanic is on. thommy has never paid out the big bucks. smelly has a connection with thommy with alot of ex newcomb footballers and cricketers there now in the lower grades.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Thommy has sent Smelly overseas as a part of the deal. Very risking considering he never hangs around at a club after Christmas!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

As for the quickest bowlers in the comp, I would think Marsland and Murray would be the winners after the 2007/08 season. Harps has lost his kick through, but still has a super line. Ando has up and down days, but when on is the quickest and hardest to face.

is this forum full of thomson people? mate i dont really care what he's on just know its more than thomson people wanna admit.
The only connection he has to thomson is money, if he was gunna play just to be with he's mates, id suggest he'd still be at NDCC or st albans

Its a shame when he flew over there he didnt have a visa and was sent home didnt make it outa the airport, long way 2 go 2 get sent home and a waste of money!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Didn't have a visa!!!!
I didn't know that. That's a pisser!!! But that's Smelly all over!!!!
But I agree, he wouldn't have gone to Thommy for a cricket bat and spikes!!

id think most them names would play in most div1 teams

i think murray and jones are the only one that would play div 1, bosworth as well. as for salts, standard to high, and it would sort o'neill out as for cutajar and dalhaus, u gotta be kidding. and o'leary has the skill but cant really commit.
someone said stalbans paying addy. hahaha, i think he won the duck award last year, so they must be paying per run.

O'leary would be the best keeper batsman in any comp in geelong by far no1 would come close, but like you said can't committ works at the wharf shift work and loves the punt during the spring carnival, rarely plays more than 7 or 8 games a year.
