Flattering for the Frogs, but Thomson (and then Highton) would be the most likely you'd imagine. Most clubs in GCA2 (by the sounds of it) will be turning out stronger sides this season and just finishing in the top half will not be easy. Still, after North Shore coming from nowhere to win last year's, anything is possible.

Everyone discounts NDSC but the record of relegated clubs in recent years has been pretty solid. Only Bell Park in 2005/06 (when GCA1 went from 20 to 16) have been a long way from the action in March. NDSC would be more likely to play finals than not, unless their numbers have really thinned more than we are led to believe.

You are well informed as always. He did pre-season at Murghe last season, but Leopold declined to clear him (he hadn't played 25 senior games at Leopold at that point, so they were entitled to knok it back under GCA rules). I believe he's still keen.

The Frogs will hopefully pick up a few, but from years and years of bitter experience I have learnt that when they walk out to play on the first Saturday in October, then yes, you've got 'em, but until then, you can never say with certainty.

It almost certainly won't be this season. As the ground's out of action with the turf installation, COGG are including it as one of the grounds for warm-weather grass conversion. One or two games at season's end at best, and even that is unlikely. COGG would prefer all renovated grounds in 2009-10 to remain vacant all summer season.

Not sure who else is having renovated grounds - Bell Post Hill, Geelong City, Highton, St.Peter's and Murghe all went to the COGG meeting about it, but only 3 or 4 grounds were to be done according to COGG.

Believe St Peters 3rds/4ths ground out of action this season and the turf ground next season. This will be a great end result however, with turf and hard wicket couch grounds side by side.

Highton's ground is being done also. So looks like two teams in Division 2 for Sunday cricket. Has St Peter's 3/4's got an alternate venue yet ?

So that might make both City and Bell Post Hill still in action for this season ?

BPH declined offer on ground and won't be one of the grounds getting Santa Anna Couch.

Are you going to search for a home/neutral ground for your Sunday cricket or just going to play away games?

Are you going to search for a home/neutral ground for your Sunday cricket or just going to play away games?

Are you offering St.Albans Reserve?!?!?

Murghe 1sts didn't play a single home game last season, so I doubt playing all away games again will be a concern. Having said that, some clubs may not be able to host or even want a Sunday game at home, so I guess Plan B would then be to have a Sunday "home" ground.

COGG have all but committed Bakers Oval to Geelong West 5ths/6ths, because that is where a number of ex-GWSC players are mass-migrating apparently. Somewhat of an irony to those of us old enough to remember when the-then GWCFC split into GWCC Rams and GWSC Cheetahs (well, it was 30 years ago). Everything old is new again.

Finances must be pretty good down there at Murgie, quite a few promises been made down there.

Finances are better than good, but all that and then some is earmarked for the turf wicket and related infrastructure. Don't assume money is behind the reason your preferred coaching appointment opted to stay or why another is considering a move. GCA2 clubs have the same problem in battling to stave off the interest in their players by GCA1 clubs, and we've had plenty of those over the years.

Dont for a minute think he was our "preffered option" as coach, his name was one of about 6 or 7 that we identiffied we wanted to speak to and let us know that he wanted the job.
