Hours Of Training

Hi everyone,
i'd like to know how much training is required to become a great cricketer. I am 14. I am a right arm fast bowler (strike) and opening batsman. Right now this is my training schedule:

Thursday: 2 hrs 15 mins nets
Friday: 3 1/2 Twenty20 (damn in the scorching heat, in between 30-40 deg celsius) and if I havent done much in the match two hours nets in the evening.
Saturday: 2-3 hrs nets in the morning and 2 hrs nets in the evening
Sunday: I take Sundays off (sometimes it's Wednesday).
Monday: 1 hr fielding + 1 hr Bowling OR 2 hr Bowling OR 1 hr Batting Fitness + 1 hr Bowling OR maybe its just 1hr or 30 mins of training if I have exams.
Tuesday: Same as Monday
Wednesday: OFF or Same as Monday and Tuesday.
Thursday: Just kidding, I wrote this in the beginning.

Now I'll tell you what batting fitness is. It's not about batting, it's more about hitting a shot and running. I do it to learn how to manage energy.
I'd also like to know how much the greats or international players use to train.

Re: Hours Of Training

If I could I'd do 2 hours or more a day everyday. In the summer holidays I kind of get that amount of practice in plus a 50 over match on Sunday.

Re: Hours Of Training

To become a great cricketer? As much as you can but also make sure it's quality training. No good wasting 2 hours if you're not developing something or working hard.

I try to put in about 5/8 hours per week but it's mostly weather dependent.

Re: Hours Of Training

It sounds like I'm giving my wife a hard time here - she's a lovely girl my wife and I love her to bits, but she does hate cricket!

Re: Hours Of Training

I know the feeling Dave... fortunately my missus lives a 45 minute drive hour away and works Monday to Friday, so I'm more or less free to practice whenever the weather will allow me!
I reckon I'm notching up about 8-10 hours a week at the moment, and the improvement in the two months since I started has been massive.

Re: Hours Of Training

Well we need to get twice as much practice in, because we've got twice as many hare-brained variations to figure out!
