In an effort to improve the standard of pitches prepared for domestic cricket matches especially the Premier trophy, Sri Lanka Cricket has introduced a Curator of the Year award from the 2006-07 season.
good news for Sri Lanka, as the ICC seems intent on using the country for future tournys.
an interesting note from the article of the requirements for a stadium to be ok to host a ICC event- Some of the requirements are: a minimum of 60 yards from pitch to boundary, seven yards between the boundary line and advertising boards, giant screen and electronic scoreboard, international media facilities for electronic and print, pavilion and dinning room with latest technology, modern gymnasium, a minimum of six centre turf pitches, car park, stadium to hold a minimum of 10,000 spectators etc.
