ICC Women's World Cup, 2008/09

The 9th ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will be held in Australia from 7th to 22nd March 2009.

Teams from New Zealand, Australia, England, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies will compete.

The teams will form two groups, Group A comprising reigning champions Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies with India, England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka making up Group B.

The top three sides in each group will then progress to the Super Six stage before the top two sides in the Super Six meet in the final, to be held at North Sydney Oval, on 22nd March.

Six grounds will be used for the tournament in Sydney, Canberra, Bowral and Newcastle.

Australia are the defending champions but will have serious competition for their crown from the likes of England, India and New Zealand.

Fixtures can be found here, as it's the easiest format I've found - http://icc-cricket.yahoo.com/wwc-2009/fixtures.html

Had a look at the Eng v Ind game last night and I have to say the Pommy lasses are in some fine form.

Claire Taylor is in some ripping form with the bat, and made a pretty handy Indian attack look decidedly ordinary.

Can't write of Australia or New Zealand though. Those 2 plus England should be good for the semi finals. Guess India will take up the 4th spot.

Ellyse Perry is in good form for Australia at the moment and she also quite a looker

Do you think she will stick with cricket, football or continue to combine both of them?

The only thing worse than Woman talking about cricket is Woman playing cricket, that's my thoughts on the ICC Women's World Cup, 2008/09

I don't know
She wants to stick to both for the meantime but she will eventually have to make a decision

More to the point, which one is rated higher in?

Group stages are finished with Sri Lanka and South Africa going out. Cricket should improve from here on in, well, at least when the big 3 play each other.
