India in Bangladesh

India visit Bangladesh to play a short two-test series after recently competing in the tri-series which also involved Sri Lanka and of course Bangladesh. Sri Lanka defeated India in the final and now we head into test cricket mode with the Tigers and the Indian side to do battle.

There's no MS Dhoni who's out with a back spasm and Harbhajan Singh pulled out this morning with a neck strain. Dinesh Karthik and Ishant Sharma are their replacements respectively. Virender Sehwag had a crack at Bangladesh yesterday, labelling them "ordinary".

So far, Bangladesh have been pretty ordinary, they sent India in and are 0/48 off eight overs. Sehwag's raced to 30 from only 26 balls and Gautam Gambhir is on 16. Sehwag is leading the side with Dhoni missing through injury.

Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, *Shakib Al Hasan, Raqibul Hasan, Mahmudullah, +Mushfiqur Rahim, Shahadat Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain

India XI: *Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, +Dinesh Karthik, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, S Sreesanth

Re: India in Bangladesh

oh what a surprise - another Bangladesh batting collapse.

Seriously though, who is Mohammad Ashraful sleeping with to keep his place in the side after failure after failure after failure? When was the last time he got a score over 20 - or over 10 for that matter? It defies belief that such a weak player (even by Bangladeshi standards) is given so many chances.

Re: India in Bangladesh

A reasonable even game after first innings. India with a one run lead, which they have extended to 123 for the loss of Sehweg. Traditionally, after a good showing in the first half of a test Bangladesh cock it up in the second; will history repeat itself? You also wonder what affect the test series win in West Indies has had. Has it given the team confidence that they can win (even though it was weakened opposition)?

Mahmudullah has caught my eye a few times before - not quite as a good a bowler as Shakib but a handy enough all rounder nonetheless.

Re: India in Bangladesh

Lolz @ Sehwag - he had to declare didn't he - given his pre-match assertion that Bangladesh wouldn't get 20 Indian wickets

Re: India in Bangladesh

Big surprise of the day - Ashraful scores 14 - and is still in! Congrats to him - thats a fine score by his standards. No doubt he will be out early tomorrow playing one too many millionaire shots. But hey, why wouldn't he? - he knows his position is secure no matter what.

Re: India in Bangladesh

Strong first half effort by Bangladesh and then let down by a terrible second half to the game. They trailed by only a run on first innings but then let India rack up 8/413 before declaring.

Bangladesh are 2/67 in reply, still needing another 348 runs to win.

He's a shocker isn't he? Not sure how he still has his place. His last ten innings before this one he had 212 runs @ an average of 21.2. But wait for this, the 10 before that he scored 79 runs @ 7.9. So his last 20 innings has yielded 291 runs @ 14.55.

Pretty awful really.

Ashraful goes, Ishant gets the movement, lands on a good length and he was looking to drive on the up, got a thick edge and Dravid at second slip dives to his left to snap a sharp chance, India strike early

haha - who would have guessed - Ashraful out playing an expansive drive on the up...

Re: India in Bangladesh

Playing in India is boring.

They play on extensions of the south eastern freeway and its just a money making scheme over there. they want to see huge scores as they reckon that generates more interest. More interest equals more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Boringggggggggggggggggggggggggg

p.s. Ghambier is still a gun ...
