Ireland, Canada, Netherlands and Kenya qualify for 2011 World Cup
Ireland, Canada, Netherlands and Kenya have all qualified for the 2011 World Cup after all four sides secured their World Cup spots today in the final round of the ICC World Cup qualifying matches.
Kenya were too good for Ireland today, beating them by six wickets with two overs in hand. They were the last side to qualify, only just nudging out Afghanistan on Net Run Rate who were the surprise packet of the tournament.
Netherlands easily accounted for Canada in what was a dead rubber with both sides having already qualified for the World Cup. Canada's 208 was no match for the Dutch who were helped by an opening partnership of 167.
The surprise though was Afghanistan who today attained ODI status after defeating Namibia by 21 runs. The win was set-up with the bat after Mohammad Shehzad's 73 and the Nowroz Mangal's 78 took the Afghan side to 7/243. They defended the total well with Hamid Hassan taking 3/37 and Karim Khan 2/43.
Scotland retained their ODI status by thrashing an inpet UAE by 122 runs. Scotland and Afghanistan will hold ODI status for four years and will gain automatic entry into the 2009/2010 Intercontinental Cup.

Super stuff by Afghanistan. For a country that has been decimated through war over the past few years, this is really an achievement to saviour. They've shocked everyone with the form over the past few weeks and the have done very, very well.
No real surprises to see the main four qualify for the World Cup. Kenya would have been very nervous at 3/83 but Tikolo came through for them again to get them home. They seem to have declined over the past few years though, the heights they reached at the 2003 World Cup seem long ago now.
